Hi,

After replacing my engine - at a cost of £3,000 on my 2006 LR Freelander TD4 2.0 Automatic 1 month after the warranty expired - I am now losing power at around 60-70mph and getting the engine warning light appear.

When I have taken this into a mechanic he is getting the fault code P1470 appear but cannot relate it to a part or problem. It just says Breather valve.

It also puffs out whiteish smoke when I pull away fast from a standing start.

His general diagnostic is that the turbo is on its way out!

There is also a strong smell of gas coming from the engine into the car! May be related or may not??

I have put a fuel flush cleaner through it to no avail.

Hope someone can help??

Thanks,

Shane

Sorry, for your problems. I think you are in the forum, definitely the wrong topic section. Probably would find more info in the Freelander sections. Im not sure about the freelander owners here, but this LR3 forum seems to be primarily US based and no Turbo Desiels here :-(

Good luck!

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.
Yes this confused me too. What is a LR3? A discovery or freelander or conventional off-road LR?
