Do we "trust" Texstar brake pads?

In Soviet Russia, Texstar brake pads don't trust YOU!

Sorry been wanting a chance to use one of those. They are most likely on par with OEM... but are EBCs that much more? Ive used EBC before on other cars and Ill probably put them on my LR3 when the time comes. They may cost a little more but they will probably last longer.

Ok, so the deed is done!

Atlantic British had a pretty good deal on an entire rebuild (front and rear rotors, pads, caliper bolts, and sensors) kit.

I followed the guidance off the UK D3 website and found the sticky post about rear brakes very helpful. I'll link to the post that was particularly helpful. There is a .rar file that has a bunch of service documents in it.

Brakes are about the easiest thing you can do yourself, aside from an oil and filter change. There are some things you can screw-up, so pay attention to the service documents. The EPB bedding in procedure was easy and necessary.

I have about 500 miles on the rear brakes, to date not big deal. I haven't noticed any brake dust, but again, I only changed the rear brakes so residue from the rear is generally small.

I need to get new brakes in the next couple weeks as well. I spoke to the guys at Atlantic British and they recommended stepping up to the $389 kit with the OEM pads over the Textstars due to some complaints that were coming in. He said for the extra $50, it was well worth it. They haven't had any issues with their standard rotors though. I am going to give it a shot.

Good to know. Wish they had told me that before my purchase. As it is, I've only had 300 trouble-free miles on the rear brakes.

For what its worth, the gripes were about brake dust, squealing and pad life. Nothing was mentioned about stopping power. For the low price, who cares if you have to replace them sooner, right.

1. Keep rims muddy
2. Keep radio louder than squeal
3. Change as required
