Hey Folks - I mentioned this in the past but have a little more bandwidth at the moment to look at this issue...

I notice that when pressing the button on the drivers door handle to lock the car I often get the "beep beep" noise and the car won't lock. If I move around ever so slightly in the vicinity of the same door it will eventually lock (having drawn attention to myself and my lump of British steel!). If I stand on the other side of the car (passenger side) the button works reliably; if I use the lock on the remote control the car also locks reliably.

My conclusion here is that the battery in the remote is good, I've changed it a few times and still have the issue, so I'm wondering if there's some sort of sensor in each of the doors and perhaps the one in the drivers door has gone bad? Could it be anything else, does anyone know what parts I should be looking at?

Thanks and beep beep! Longtrail :)

I think there's an antenna someplace in the rear bumper cover area that detects if the fob is in close enough proximity to unlock. The fob sometimes isn't detected, or may be blocked. Happens to me regularly if my key is buried in my gear.

Thanks, not sure if this explains the difference between driver and passenger side, off-course, my stats for the driver side are far more abundant! I do wonder about wallet in the same pocket and things like that but this does seem positional.

I think there is more than one sensor but need to do some research, I was hoping somebody might know before I go down the rabbit hole... As always I'll share findings, work etc.
