Alternative to Dealer Only Castrol Professional "E" for 2014-16 LR4's

Anyone found an alternative to the Castrol Professional "E" 0W-20 that can only be found at the dealer that is spec'd for the SC V6 in the 2014-16 LR4's? Just paid $188 for 10qts and filter.

No, Out of warranty. I can't get an answer from Land Rover or Castrol regarding special requirements that make the Professional "E" unique, and why it's spec'd for the SC V6 motor. I'd think I could just use AMSOIL 0/20, and asked AMSOIL about it, and they said they don't make an oil that meets the "E" requirements/spec, but then they also could not tell me what those requirements/spec's were either.

Above is the oil spec for your engine. Professional E used to be the only oil meeting that spec. There are others now. I ran the Fuch's oil while under warranty. Now out of warranty it's Mobil1 0w20EP.

Castrol paid money to JLR. Your call but any quality synthetic of the the proper grade changed at sane intervals will be fine. YMMV

I think you may also be wise to shop your filter options. Guesstimating that you paid around $12/qt at the dealer, so that means they soaked you for a $60-70 filter. People here are finding quality filters in the $10-25 range and having good results.

Oil was 13.95, and Filter was 33. I'll be looking at AMSOIL going forward and another source for the filter. Thanks for all the responses.

Ok now I’m thoroughly confused. It looks like my 2014 scv6 is specced 5w20 and the 2015-16 scv6 requires the 0w20 of the newer spec. Should I stick with the 5w20 or get the newer stuff? Found motul JLR specific that meets the STJLR.51.5122 spec in 0w20. I have a feeling this was primarily done for fuel economy purposes but I’m sure someone on here knows the real story.
