Hello LR4 owners!

IMG_4529.jpg

Air Down Gear Up is pleased to introduce our Land Rover LR4 system. As a brief introduction to anyone who may not know us from other vehicle offerings, we specialize in making premium vehicle storage, sleeping and kitchen systems. Our system utilizes an all-aluminum frame mounted directly to the vehicle via a solid, machined aluminum 'anchor bar'. We focus on integrating as cleanly with the vehicle as possible. We want our system to enhance the appearance of your vehicle AND provide a lifetime of high performance.

We created an exact fit system to perfectly compliment your LR4. Our system can be configured with or without the integrated, convertible sleeping platform. The sleeping platform is fast to deploy/stow and does not impact the 2nd row in any way.

The drawers feature full extension, ball bearing slides that provide full and easy access to all of your gear. The slides feature a lock-in and lock-out mechanism (an all-metal component for a lifetime of predictable use) to provide safe, rattle free access to your gear. We utilize a particular slide with adjustable stops, meaning there is ZERO noise from these drawers when stowed. In addition to the lock-in/lock-out mechanism, a keyed lock can also be included to prevent unwanted access to your valuables. The drawers contain 100% rattle-free, moveable dividers so you can dial in your storage exactly to your needs.

The drawers are compatible with both our slide out table and the drawer top work surface. The slide out table is a fantastic addition to the system, as it provides a great place to prepare food, stash gear, hold a drink, run a stove, anything you need! The slide out table is quick deploying and can be used with the drawer open or closed.

I'd love to see what the mounting rail looks like, hear about how difficult it is to remove the system temporarily (I have to haul PA gear for my band), and so forth. But it looks very promising!

Thanks for asking! So the LR4 system is essentially the same as our Land Cruiser system in terms of the anchor bar itself and the installation process. We haven't had a chance to record 'installation instructions' on the LR4, but you can get a very good feel for how this all works by checking out our Land Cruiser install video. The anchor bars specifically come into the video at 0:37.

Very nice.
What are weight capacities of the kitchen sections, seeing as there are no legs.

Free-standing and fast deploying, that's the goal with the kitchen! We live by the motto 'setup in seconds' and the kitchen is one of our best examples of that.

For the kitchen, the first stage (intended for a fridge) is rated for 500pounds. The 2nd stage (intended for a two-burner stove) is rated for 150 pounds, and then 3rd stage slide out table is good for 40pounds.

In our experience each of these stages had substantially more weight capacity than needed. For example a 55qt fridge hypothetically filled with water comes in at 150pounds. A two burner stove with two pots full of water comes in about 25pounds. The intended use for the slide out table is something like chopping veggies or setting out plates, etc, so again the 40pound rating is more than enough in all of our adventures.

We detail out the kitchen slides (same kitchen module in the 4Runner and LR4) in the video below starting at 1:30
