Looks like an old thread, but as an alternate you can use the versions that adheres to the oil pan, not as good. I also use a battery warmer. Don't have to drain coolant and put it on a lift. Cheaper and easier to install, I know there is quite a few posting about if you can't it afford it don't drive a Land Rover, which is absolutely idiotic. Every dollar sunk into a vehicle is a wasted one. Main reason why the market share in the US is so small.

factory block heater for petrol 4.4L V8

This is a link to the factory brass body Temro block heater for the petrol 4.4L V8 engine. The brass body does not react negatively with the aluminum block.

And yes, this is the one in my 3 and I had the dealer install it as aluminum scares me.

So that one is for the LR3? I keep asking dealerships and people on the Forum and get different numbers and types. That's why I said hell with it and got the stick on version that heats the oil pan. FYI it will get down to -40 actual temperature here, very ******* the engine cold starting it and the oil will gel.

the hard part was getting the Temro number

Yes, getting the LR 120VAC heater part number was relatively easy. The hard part was crossing the LR number with a Temro number as it seems that is some sort of Temro corporate secret due to the licensing agreements.
Once I had the Temro heater number, the next problem was the power cord number.

The heater part number applies to various Jag models with a similar engine so that both helped and hindered.

You mentioned -40 so I wondered where you live. I live in Edmonton Alberta Canada so I figure it is somewhere around here.

There is some history.

My relatives moved up here about a hundred years ago.

William Hickock and friends ran them out of the State to the south I am told. Apparently they brought the weather with them.
