I have a couple of 2007.1 Map Data discs and they are not showing the loading.kwi file. Even the 2004 disc that came with my MY06 RR did not have the .kwi file. With the 2004 disc can I use the hack but I don't want to take the chance with these new discs if it upgrades the nav but take away the hack. Any ideas? Did LR change the name of the file? What does it mean if the .kwi file is not listed?
The LOADING.KWI file, which only exists on the newer map discs, is what forces the firmware upgrade on older vehicles. If it's not there, no update will happen.
The part # for the "2006-2007" disc was YIW500210 (has the firmware update on it). The 2 older ones shouldn't...
Thanks grommet. I may be ready to bite the bullet now. One other strange thing about the 2007.1 discs. Looking at the Abstract file on the discs, states that the disc was made by CARIN VDO DAYTON. VDO DAYTON is a subsidiary of Siemens that make navigation equipment and maps for European Countries. They use both Tele-Atlas and Navteq maps. It will be interesting to see how this differs from the 2004 disc I have.
-Even though the LR2 DVDs say 2007-2008, the copyright is still 2006. Which leads me to believe it's the exact same data, except there are 2 DVDs than 1. That being said, the LR3 & RR/RRS all use one disk for the whole US, rather than split one disc for Western US, and another for Eastern. In my opinion, I would not be surprised if they are not Double-Layer discs. Maybe Land Rover found they could save money by using 2 regular DVD discs that hold 4.7 gigs each, rather than a double-layer which holds a little over 8 gigs. Whether that's true I'm not sure, but that's my speculation.
