2010 LR4 coolant level low issue

I have not touched the heater hoses, the water pump nor the thermostat. Also, I have not touched the oil cooler tube. Cheers

2010 LR4 coolant level low issue

    1. You have not changed your coolant in 7-8 years! Firstly, it is a closed system and there should be no evaporation. Secondly, I wonder how the pH has changed and what is getting eaten away. 2. Hot / cold fluctuating temperatures with plastics do not fair well. 3. Most of us have changed all...

    2012 LR4 150k Mile Maintenance

@BigBriDogGuy , glad you have found and gone to the right shop. Finding that level of expertise is difficult as typically these shops are run so humbly. They are busy enough. Become a regular… even if just for an oil change.

Transmission taking too long to shift

not just on the track... wet or icy road conditions, off road conditions... its just better ;-) Wishing you all the success... G.

Transmission taking too long to shift

And yet, I always use S as I grew up expecting as you released the pressure on the accelerator, a vehicle should actually, noticeably slow. And not continue in a neutral state. (that is, using its engine brakes, and adjusting the gears appropriately) Moreover, the extremely low gear shift rpms...

Transmission taking too long to shift

@Longtrail , Do see the process here: https://aftermarket.zf.com/app/controller/ti/download/Binary/5a709c41-c80e-11ed-a2f4-00505690da53.pdf Truly, just use KISS. Meaning, 90% of the very transmissions out there do not have the external, non ZF endorsed zipkit. I would ignore the idea for now.

Zip kit and fluid change, now won't go past 5th

OMG! sorry you experienced that. Unfortunately, its a case of “he said, she said”. Then as you put it “… the test drives…” And unless you have undisputed proof of the health prior to this fiasco… And I will just put this out loud, once: is the zipkit necessary… Best of luck, @greiswig !!

Zip kit and fluid change, now won't go past 5th

Yes… but who knows what condition it will be in… Out of interest, what is the best price LR would supply a new or certified rebuilt one?? (Yes, my experience is JLR will barter as will the dealer)

Transmission taking too long to shift

I suppose you could connect to the ODBII port to read the temperature but I just use a hand held IR. I don’t have the document in front of me but if I recall accurately, doesn’t ZF state shifts in the transmission during the refill process??

Put it on stands. You'll need to as the fill process is done while its running.

    2012 LR4 150k Mile Maintenance

Funny thing is, I don’t preemptively change the injectors. I do change plugs at 100k kms. And all those “other” fluids (and filters) every 50k kms.

2016 LR4 Original Owner. 75k. Thinking about selling, but not sure of alternative rides that can do everything this does.

Yes. I concur that the P400 Defender is wonderful to drive. I took one out on that Land Rover Experience weekend, in Maine. But the disappointments for me were the full on electronic dash, the fact the cargo space doesn’t go flat, and where did the split tail gate/hatch go. And then there is...

    High Pressure Fuel Pump Question

I don’t think that is accurate. Due to the combined throttle body, the mafs “collectively” supply data to the ecu. The ecu references the total air flow value supplied to the engine. These supply readings can in no way be “bank specific”. There us a clear writeup of this in the xkr workshop...

@machmike , I did not purchase new. But I did have the neglected, fixed. And since that time, mine too has been dependable and so enjoyable…. I’m keeping it as long as I can. I have looked about for alternatives but I do prefer the LR4. Simple, robust, luxurious and practical, all in one package.

    Best windshield replacement option?

In Canada, Driver insurance ratings are not affected by a windshield claim. As such, the 3 times I have replaced a windshield, it was with the dealer. All for the mere cost of the deductable.

Third head gasket job- why are they failing?

Stranded 3 - 4 times?? How?! I've had no issues other than when the generator was done. Of course, mine has never overheated... can't imagine any good came of that.

Help needed!! More head scratching on battery/alternator/charging system... '06 LR3

Well there you go. I’ve got better things to do with my time than worry if my battery is sufficiently charged. A prorated battery warranty…. my experience is you might save $20. But I doubt it. Cheers.

    High Output Alternator for LR3

Do you really want it ;-) Truly, as a flooded battery has a different charging requirement from anAGM battery. And as the generator/rectifier solution in a LR3 is geared towards a flooded battery, I would not be spec'ing an agm. Also, the warranties. Who cares. The pro-rated warranties give...

Help needed!! More head scratching on battery/alternator/charging system... '06 LR3

But out of interest... does the LR3 "qualify" for and AGM battery? AGM's require a different charging pattern than a flooded battery; and I thought that this particular generator/recifier solution was better geared for a flooded battery.

    OEM vs knockoff gas cap

Or just a sign that the adaptive handling would benefit from a reset…. fwiw, I “reset” all my vehicles every spring.
