    Change Paint Colour on LR3

+1. Nobody knows, because nobody is silly enough to do that. Tonga is the best color of the current lineup - and possibly of any color I can recall in the past 25 years. Although Hunter Green on my RR Classic was pretty sweet in the early '90s

My private LR mechanic wants to move to synthetic oil. Shall I?

Not totally directed at you, but since you mentioned it, I'll bring it up here. I hear about people being 'very happy' with expensive oil (Royal Purple as much as any). My question is, has anybody ever actually been unhappy with dino oil? I've just never heard anyone complain that "man, I...

My private LR mechanic wants to move to synthetic oil. Shall I?

Generally, and I mean very generally I would avoid coupons and deals as they might use synthetic (questionable), but they will use a crappy filter. I also doubt they would honor that price once they figure out there are 8 quarts involved. As far as top offs, you probably wouldn't be low on...

do you guys use the dealers after the first free service?

Did you want to know who does their own service, or to vent about something?

am i the only poster seeing the links for LR for sale on my post?

Are you talking about ads running down the right side of the page? I've got them. Until you said something I didn't notice.. thanks :(

    LR3 engine change

I actually did get a new engine. I'm just storing it in an LR4 til I really need it!

    it's gotta be a joke

I'm sure you're frustrated, but this is one that nobody here will be able to diagnose from across the internet. Could be a loose wire, could be the thing was made on a Friday and someone forgot a part... It might suck, but the good news is it's got to be covered.

Need new lower control arm bushings

Haven't done it myself on the LR3 but had them done. Putting it in doesn't seem too hard, but then I think you need an alignment.

    LR3 engine change

I don't need a new engine, it was just a conversation about the timing chain changes. Needless to say, I stopped listening after finding out he didn't know what engine he was talking about. Sorry to disappoint!

    Oil Change

If you've ever changed your oil in any car in the last 100 years, this is just as obvious. You have a couple skid plates to take off, but the oil filter is where it should be and the drain plug is where it should be. If you buy one of those socket type oil filter wrenches it will be easier to...

Car wash on rails or 100% hand wash only?

I use,one on occasion, never had a problem. Doesn't do as good of a job as I would by hand. Mainly I will do it in the winter when I want to wash the salt off the undercarriage. Like BByer said, check your wipers!

    LR3 engine change

No sh*t right? I was 99 1/2% sure. Thanks. Wonder if he was right about needing timing chain tensioners, since he doesn't even know what engine he's looking at, LOL

    LR3 engine change

Quick stupid question. Was there a change in the V8 engine from 05-09? Mechanic said in 05 it was BMW then Ford after that. If true, I sure didn't know it....if false, I don't think I trust this mechanic!

Hey Paul, which Hakka? R2 SUV?

    LR5 Release Updates?

I bought a '13 even though I was originally considering an 11 or 12 mainly because it was the last year that had the big V8 and figured it'd hold it's value more. But yeah, it's still going to depreciate a lot. Maybe just a little less lot.

    Cost of 50000 mile service

There's cheaper ways to maintain your car. Find an Indy for 1/2 the cost or do it yourself for 1/4 the cost. It doesn't HAVE to be that way!

LR4 as a off road vehicle

Telling people here that their sliders are for protection is like telling them their truck is 4 wheel drive :biggrin:

18 inch wheels for off road

Sadly, I think the real reason they are going to bigger rims is because most people want them. That they "require" them is BS. People haven't started using Rovers on the track, the speed limits haven't changed. Fact is, LR is selling out. As a company, that's probably a great plan. As an...

18 inch wheels for off road

I haven't been able to find any appreciable difference in stopping distance between the 3 and the 4. Both high 125-130 feet from 60-0. So what do the bigger brakes do? They certainly don't last longer...

    Faint metal scraping

You might want to check and see if it's the metal dust shields. It's pretty easy to hit and bend those (like when you're changing brakes ) so that it just barely scrapes on the rotor. Hope it's this, because it takes about 3 seconds to fix. Look for a shinier groove than the rest of the...

    Disable/prevent auto-leveling and/or extended mode?

    Disable/prevent auto-leveling and/or extended mode?

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're saying, but in extended mode, I'll turn the trailer hitch down til it has weight on it. Then get in the car, put it in access mode and it drops down from the trailer hitch. Sounds like I'm not understanding something, it works great.

My private LR mechanic wants to move to synthetic oil. Shall I?

Not a fan, nothing against them, but regular oil is fine if changed regularly. But not 3500 miles regularly - way too often, city driving or not. 5000-6000 imo

    Blingtastic ?

Sweet, thanks to you Jwest, I have to see that monstrosity every time I go on Facebook. All because I clicked on it once, that add pops up. Gotta love having your every move tracked.
