I am running 265/60/18 Maxxis Bravo 771 on my Compo. It's slightly larger ratio than stock so no problem with any height setting. No mods on suspension.
David - just giving you my experience; I ordered my new truck on 2/6, the start build date is set on 3/27 with a completion date on 4/9. It's scheduled to deliver to my dealer on 5/18 although my rep said that delivery could be sooner. Haven't worked on the numbers yet though.
I've been using Maxxis Bravo 771 AT and I love'em. I've got about 15k miles on it now and its as quiet as the stock Conti's while kicking ass on several offroading trips I took. Snow traction probably slightly better than stock but then again, I live in socal so our snow condition is probably...
I do have the black pack ordered on the new truck...i think i will leave it unpainted for now and see how it'll look. Glad to know the fitment is good on the asfirs!
I am also thinking about powdercoating the plates to black but if you get scratches, wouldn't the silver show through and creating a pretty messy look?
great to know! I ordered the new Causeway Grey HSE Lux with black interior, black pack 1, HD, vision assist. But I just found out today my sales rep no longer works there...hopefully my truck is still on order, I can't wait!
on my compo wheels, i bought these caps and sprayed it flat black to match. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Land-Range-Rover-Silver-Oval-Badge-Wheel-Center-Hub-Caps-Genuine-Set-of-4-NEW-/330673393031?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3ALR4&hash=item4cfdab8d87&vxp=mtr
fits perfectly snug...
Lots of interesting side trips along side Mojave Road and the Lava Tube trail is definitely worth a visit. It's a quick 0.3mile hike up and down into the tube where hardened lava rocks form a pretty impressive atmosphere in the tube and the "god light" spotlight from above makes for cool pictures
At mile 73 of the road, we see the Mailbox filled with emergency supplies and a guest log. Right behind it, there is the Frog Monument and fortunately, one of us did remember to bring our contribution. We are now blessed by the Frog Gods :)
Dinner followed by watching fire into the cooooold night, we continued on Mojave Road and visited an abandoned ranch. Nothing special about the ruins other than tons and tons of rusted cans. Some of the rusty cans are stamped with "Product of Norway" mark...tuna fish or anchovies?
one of the roads we had to descend...it was fairly tough but the LR absorbed it with ease.
After some fun stuff along the way, we found a gorgeous spot to spend our first night. Apparently our campsite was also an abandoned mine and now we cue spooky night cap stories :)
Just got back from a 3d/2n trip from Mojave Road. It was incredible fun and the desert is a beautiful place to be in February. My wife and I camped in the car while my buddies pitched tents...another reason why the LR is such an awesome vehicle. I am 5'10 and sleeps perfectly in the back with...
I buy all my accessories at Rocklin Land Rover, their prices are the best I've seen. I have the loadspace rubber mat without the lip, it works GREAT! things don't slide around and in a pinch, you can roll it up to make the 3rd row usable...i've done it :)
