Great review! I agree we have 7500 miles have had to have a defective Tire Pressure Sensor replaced but no real issues. I was surprised at the cost of an oil change, if your coming from a domestic or japanese vehicle to find out your oil filter is going to be $40 and you need 9 quarts of...
We did some very steep inclines no snow in this part of the country. The car in front of us did not have the rear locker and it would have to really claw on loose limestone (I gave him plenty of room as he was spitting rocks) The rear locker allowed the truck to unlock the center diff several...
The best way to get MPG/HP on a naturally aspirated engine would be allowing it to breath easier. I have no idea if anyone produces performance parts for the LR4, but the best start would be the intake and exhaust. After that without forced induction (turbo/supercharger) You can get modest...
Congratulations! You'll love the car, I like the Black/Almond combination and I know the next time your off road you''ll appreciate the rear locker on those low traction steep incline climbs.
(we also ended up with extra equipment on ours we originally just wanted the HSE package and ended up...
Are you going to the event in Glen Rose TX this Sunday? If so I'll see you there (I'm not sure if the terrain is challenging enough to settle the debate but we can have fun trying)
I agree on the factory tires, and unfortunately the only tire option for that 19" wheel is the Pirelli Scorpion ATR, but there is a manufacturer of 18" wheels for the car now that allows you to put good AT tires on the truck. a slippery steep incline where you can only get 2 wheels on the ground...
I wouldn't compromise on the HD but we go off-road. I might compromise on the LUX if I could get an HSE with cold climate package. My wife would not compromise on the color (I would have) We were lucky the dealer found the exact car we wanted
I always take our hitch off when not in use but opted for a towel to wrap it in when storing in the rear storage compartment. I didn't know LR had a specific storage container
I can't imagine not getting the HD package if you're going to use the vehicle off road or if you get regular flats (I use to think my wife put magnets in her wheels). The dealer we bought ours from had to locate the vehicle and do a dealer trade to get one with the HD package, so they are out...
We have the HD package as well and the hitch doesn't seem to be too close to the tire at all. I've taken our hitch on and off several times, is it possible your hitch is defective?
I think you just become accustom to the lines in the windshield and don't notice them as much after time. I have heard of people replacing their windshields because it bothered them but then you only have the standard defroster and not the additional electric defroster for the front windshield
I do not believe the laws of physics change simply because the car was manufactured in Europe. Living in Texas where the car will be driven in 100+ degree heat and towing with the truck on a regular basis, I can not bring myself to go more than 5000 miles between oil changes with a synthetic.
I would think the reliability of the LR is comparable to the Audi. Is there an Audi store in the Mountains? I would agree with the above post if you're concern is reliability and you want a good mountain car maybe look to the Lexus GX or Toyota 4Runner. But IMO the LR4 is the most functional...
We were looking for an HSE but bought the LUX not for the extra features, but it was the only one we could find with the HD package, and we weren't willing to compromise on the rear locking diff and full size spare
The LR4 is not only more practical with it's third row our LUX feels more than luxurious enough. The RR has less space IMO is less functional and the extras you get don't seem to justify the price difference.
The one we got did come with the harness that is suppose to connect to the factory wiring harness. I had the dealer install it because the LR4 has a Body Control Module (BCM) that controls all electric accessories. I don't know that they had to tell the BCM to power the brake controller but I...
