2nd time stranded in 5 months!
2 strikes and your out with the alternator. Yours has some vintage rover DNA. If you can afford it get a new 16. Someone may get hurt with the way it has become unreliable. The v8 is great but not worth keeping under your circumstances imo. -

Want to purchase a daily driver LR4 - 2013 vs. 2015/2016?
My 2c is to make sure the brakes have already been done if you are looking at a 25k mileage vehicle. The last thing you want is to have to replace the brakes one month after you purchase it. Perhaps I am lucky but in my case, the scheduled maintenance costs have far exceeded any unexpected or... -

Thanks for the pics umbertob. Will be interested to see if the brakes have been redesigned for longer life. Soccer moms won't pay 1800 for a brake change every 25k on the minivan- horns

Gps maps update
Thanks for the info. That's helpful. I dont use it too often bc it is clumsy; but it's nice to have on those rare occasions. I would be willing to pay more for a redesigned full upload. -

Anyone else here thinking about bubble-wrapping a new LR4 for the next 15 - 20 yrs, then either driving it or selling it for 2x's current value. If they still made them with a V8, I would seriously do this. This new concept is junk. If I wanted an Explorer, I would just buy an Explorer. LR...- horns

Would appreciate some input. I have a 2012 LR4 w/ 47K miles on it. When it was still under warranty I had the water pump placed (I would guess at around 20K miles). The initial issue was low coolant at that time. Today I find that the truck is again low on coolant. I need some thoughts on... -

maintenance guestimate I have a 2012 w/ 29K. So far I have not had any issues with it. However you should prepare yourself for the known costs. Unless you are a do-it-yourselfer, your oil changes, brake changes, etc.. will sky rocket in cost compared to what you may be accustomed to. I... -

Thinking of Upgrading from LR3 to LR4
2012 LR4 w/ 25K on the odometer. (2.5 yrs in service) very few problems. My key fob is peeling apart (I believe someone posted about this as a TSB previously). It had a low coolant level and they replaced the water pump under warranty. I'm still on the first set of brakes / rotors, but... -

Today I was coasting down a steep decline probably in 2nd gear, going about 15 mph, I was gaining speed and felt the truck shift up a gear (I think into 3rd). I was covering the brake, but not applying any significant pressure to it. The truck then abruptly slowed, enough to let the seat belts... -

Normal Air Compressor operation
I'm not sure what "normal" is, but in my 4 weeks behind the wheel, the only time I hear the air compressor during normal operation is if I just get out of the car when I have had an additional load in the back (people / groceries, etc..). -

I did not order my Lr4 so I can't speak from experience, but I would be very leary to put down a 1 K deposit without an agreed price. (see the first post of this thread). I would suggest you come to an agreement with an invoice + x structure. I would politely get this in the form of an email...
