Finally got the motivation this weekend to attempt at replacing my tensioner and quides on my 2011 with almost 300,000 km. It's defiently needed it.
Everything went well up to the point where it didn't. During my attempt at replacing the driver side chain tensioner, when I had the chain quite...
Can the aux chain tensioner be replaced thought the crank shaft access location? My aux chain seems to very lose and the tensioner doesn't seem to provide any pressure either. I made a short video of it here:
I'm torn as it seems to be running well, no codes etc, however as mentioned above I can feel a lose chain every other time trough the oil filler hole.
At my mileage of almost 300k I suspect the chains must of been touched at one point but I have no way of knowing for sure if they have or how...
I'm thinking it didn't quite down the chain which I never did hear, at least not that I could pin point to it, but it quitted down what I suspect to be a noisy injector.
I checked my timing chain various times trough the oil filler hole. Sometime it's nice and tight other times it has slack. I'm thinking it may have issues with the ratcheting/holding mechanism on the tensioners and it only tighten up by oil pressure - I still hear the chain noise.
I have ran...
What you folks are saying makes sense. If only it the manifolds weren't so bloody buried and hard to access. Any advice on the what method to dig down there to check for a leak?
With it not being front centered and very pronounced on side is what lead me to think it's not the chains. The noise seems to be about the same warm or cold. With maybe a slight increase on a warm engine.
It's defiently follows the rpm of engine and seems to better/worse at certain times.
And it's pretty impressive how well everything has aged on this vehicle. Aside from the mirror cameras everything still works as it should and it drives rock solid. I'm currently still battling a suspension issues which I believe is attributed to one of the height sensor but once that solved it...
Would appreciate your thoughts on this noise.
Just purchased this vehicle trough an auction with plans to use it as a weekend cruiser it has 300,000km on it. The Carfax which does not list chains as having been replaced in the service history. I listened to lots a online video 5 liters with...
