LR3 LR4 Range Rover Sport - TOOLS thread

WOW!!! That's quite a thread! It'll take me some time to go through it all! Thanks!

2 Piece Transmission Filter And Pan Kit

It's good to know that there is a better alternative. I'll check out the AB video, maybe even talk to someone over there. I've had a tech from the past tell me that unless you have problems with the tranny, it requires no service. If I needed it done, the cost was going to be quite high, if I...

2 Piece Transmission Filter And Pan Kit

bbjj, What problems were you having with your tranny? How many miles on the odometer?

2 Piece Transmission Filter And Pan Kit

OK, well I understand that the standard procedure for changing tranny fluid, etc., can be quite expensive, if done the conventional way. I just don't understand this different method; is it as effective, safe, etc.???

Planning on swapping trans pan and fluid change...low profile torx recommendations?

maxx4wd, Are you using the products advertised on British Atlantic? What is the advantage of going the route you're taking?

Replacement of Air Strut Assembly: 06 LR3 HSE

OK, I looked up the site, registered, and see that there are 40 pages in the registry for LR3. Can you give me a clue as to how to find yours--handle, page number, etc.??

Jwest, Where do I find 'exped portal'???

2 Piece Transmission Filter And Pan Kit

I searched for this subject, but got no results... Atlantic British is advertising this product (Item: ATFCKWFL). Has anyone gone this route? What is the value of this vs conventional approaches? Thanks in advance! Dan

Replacement of Air Strut Assembly: 06 LR3 HSE

jwest, The images you show make a great case for EAS!. It looks like your Rover is well-equipped for the trails. I'd like to get there some day. I see that it is 'expedition modified'. Could you list what all that entails??? The N. TX Rover club puts on an event in E. TX in April, for...

Replacement of Air Strut Assembly: 06 LR3 HSE

Houm-WA, You ask how my tech knows? I don't know; I guess I should have asked! I know that they have sophisticated and very expensive diagnostic tools that have the blessing of the mother ship in the UK. Is it possible to use such tools to diagnose failing air struts? I'm with you on keeping...

Replacement of Air Strut Assembly: 06 LR3 HSE

jwest, Your insights on air strut/compressor behavior are interesting! As I stated earlier, my whole reason for changing this air strut was because of the compressor activating more than I remember from earlier days, in addition to my Rover tech telling me that it will need changing soon. I...

Need 3rd Row Seats. Trade for Sliding Cargo Tray?? --- in CA

Interesting idea!! I think we may have used the 3rd row seats a few times. Most of the time they stay tucked away. I'd be very interested in how one could use that space as a well-organized compartment for tools, emergency equipment, etc. Has anyone done this successfully?

Replacement of Air Strut Assembly: 06 LR3 HSE

And two more questions for any and all takers: 1) Are the rear air struts as much fun as the front to replace?? 2) Can the struts be rebuilt, or is it even worth doing, considering the new price of about $300??

Replacement of Air Strut Assembly: 06 LR3 HSE

jwest, I wish I could have seen the process. Twisting that strut around while trying to support it right below the control arm with the jack, all the while having little air line length and no visibility, was a major PITA!! I originally embarked upon this journey because my Rover tech said...

Ha! finally I have a "known issue" to fix on the LR3 - rear tailgate latch switch

Houm, I'm not sure the parts are any 'better'; I just got them from Atlantic British, since they tend toward genuine parts. It's hard to say if the install would preclude a repeated failure, since it is generally done with the same parts and same fashion as original. Atlantic British has a...

Ha! finally I have a "known issue" to fix on the LR3 - rear tailgate latch switch

I would recommend this. I got the idea from one of the UK forums: DISCO3.CO.UK, if I recall. I used a small steel cable, attached it close to the motor that powers the release, ran it through a small incision on the carpeted panel toward the passenger's side, and finished with a loop on the...

Replacement of Air Strut Assembly: 06 LR3 HSE

Just an update on my project: I've noticed that 'projects' posted on U-tube seem to be a lot easier than they are in reality! A few of the 'real world' challenges that I experienced (maybe my LR3 is unique??) --One U-tube poster suggested relieving the air from the valve block under the...

Ha! finally I have a "known issue" to fix on the LR3 - rear tailgate latch switch

Agree 100%. Replacing the mechanism is relatively easy--IF you do it while you can still get the hatch open. I first started by lubricating the moving parts, but the problem came back. I eventually replaced the motor. In addition, I followed an idea that a member in another form had. I...

Replacement of Air Strut Assembly: 06 LR3 HSE

jwest, Thanks for the excellent, detailed post! I am wondering if it would be safe/effective to relieve the air from the strut at the connection at the top of the strut, rather than at the block...

Replacement of Air Strut Assembly: 06 LR3 HSE

Interesting... What makes these better than OEM (Land Rover) or other competitors (other than price). Longevity and reliability rank high with me, simply because I really don't like fixing stuff any more than I have to...

Replacement of Air Strut Assembly: 06 LR3 HSE

Houm, I actually did take it to an Indie for the replacement of the R Front air strut replacement. Their charge for the strut alone was over $700. That got me to thanking about DIY!

Replacement of Air Strut Assembly: 06 LR3 HSE

Are there threads showing how this is done? I saw an online video showing this; it looked like the first time for him, with a few surprises! I would tackle this myself, if it didn't take all day and a boatload of cussing! I had my right front strut replaced about 6 months ago; it costed about...

    Anyone's alarm randomly going off?

The battery installed is fairly new...maybe it's a junk battery???

    Anyone's alarm randomly going off?

I also had an alarm that would go off randomly, with a 'hood open' alert on the dash. I replaced the alarm switch and haven't heard the alarm going off yet (knock on wood), but the 'hood open' alert is still on the dash. Any ideas where to look???
