I"m bumping 240k miles and AFAIK my transmission has never been open. It does go against any logic to not change the fluid and filter regularly, I agree. -

I was replacing the water pump and all the other coolant hoses because the water pump was leaking and hit the radiator with a wrench and punctured it so it was replaced at around 190,000 on my '06. -

Guess I should have updated, my problem turned out to be the fuel pump relay, I changed it out and have had zero issues since then, that was like 4 months ago. I never had to bleed anything when I replaced my pump, just turned it over until it started. -
