Engine gone
The knock could have been the plug firing out of position since the sensor is misreading the crank/ cam position and causing pre-ignition. Tough to diagnose without being in front of the truck but at least the dealer will be able to diagnose since he has the tools and computer. I'm interested... -

I'm really dying for one, so any observations are appreciated. Are you sure you don't have a coil spring version, the 7 seater has the air bag suspension but the 5 seater does not. Ticking sound
Yes it's a 2006 SE, I just put a set of factor rock sliders on. It has an aftermarket in dash Pioneer but other than that everything else is stock and I always try to use genuine LR parts. Keeping my fingers crossed every day! -

Using the screwdriver or stethoscope method if the ticking is coming from right around the water pump I would be concerned it is the variable cam adjustment unit. Mine has been ticking for a couple of months and the repair is significant to the point that I'm holding off as long as possible... -
Diagnostic tool? iLand???
I have a nanocom and have had great luck with it, support is good and it does everything from factory functions to key reprogramming. I guess all of them have good points and bad, the nanocom is a stand alone so I just keep it in the truck and it's there if I need it.
