    Charge Warning Lamp

Charge warning (battery) light came on and as I got closer to home systems started failing and as I pulled up to the house she died. Tried to boost off my Touareg and cables sparked to the point the cables got hot. Yes they were connected correctly. Replaced battery and now 9 seconds after...

    Engine Noise 2006 LR3 HSE

If you use a socket extension like a stethoscope and put it on the front of the engine (carefully) and hear the ticking it's probably the variable valve timing unit. Mine does it too, it affects your gas mileage more than anything - I'm averaging 12.5 right now with premium 100% gas. The fix...

    Anyone's alarm randomly going off?

Thanks, toddjb122, I would have never have guessed a door would cause that also. I love this forum.

    Engine gone

The knock could have been the plug firing out of position since the sensor is misreading the crank/ cam position and causing pre-ignition. Tough to diagnose without being in front of the truck but at least the dealer will be able to diagnose since he has the tools and computer. I'm interested...

    Anyone's alarm randomly going off?

Agreed, hood latch sensor needs to be replaced.

    Engine gone

The code is related to the crank sensor evidently and should be "fixable" without engine replacement but it worries me that you didn't get a check engine light. Below is a clip from another forum that may help. Disregard his last comment about reliability of these vehicles, we all know that if...

    LR3 Small Mystery Coolant Leak

I've replaced every component from radiator to pump to reservoir and still intermittently smell coolant near the expansion tank but cannot find a leak. I hate the whole cooling system design. Too much plastic.

Help my lr3 raises its off overnight . Please help

I agree, i know the system is designed to monitor all 4 points and drop to stay level if one bag's pressure decreases but I have never heard of a compressor kicking in with the ignition off.

LR3 suspension air to coil conversion

I converted my Disco II from air to coil and added a 2" lift. It changed the ride and made it a bit more harsh. As far as off road honestly I didn't notice a difference and really the handling and cornering on road were still good but it was a little top heavy. I just decided that with my LR3...

    LR4 Landmark Audio Upgrade...

I replaced the factory system with a Pioneer Double DIN and amp using a faceplate adaptor for a Freelander. I have sat, nav, and usb. I bypassed the optical cable, and have full functionality of all systems. I did use the factory wiring and really need to go back in and rewire and do...

    Ticking sound

That sound seems to be lower in the engine than the cam timing unit. Again I would use the long screwdriver/socket extension method to figure out where exactly it's coming from and go from there. I have zero experience with the 5.0 but the 4.4 definitely has variable valve timing and that's...

$8500 seems fair given the condition of everything including the dash which appears to not have any cracks.

    Is it still ugly?

My two cents worth is I love the D5 and am dying for one, and am amazed that a lens can make that much difference in a picture. How do you attach an EF135mm f/2.0L lens on my phone? LOL!!!

New to me Discovery First Edition

I'm dying for one but as I watch inventory I don't seem a lot of these moving, Agarabaghi can you give me details on how much off the list you got? LR locally is offering super clearance, like $5k off but they only have one in inventory and it's like $70k and I only can afford a base SE...

I have had a loaner D5 for a week Ask Me Anything (LR4 owner)

Yes I second dngvt's comment, thanks for the review. Also it looks like the 2018's are starting to hit the dealers, I see LR Cincinnati show one "coming soon" on their website.

I have had a loaner D5 for a week Ask Me Anything (LR4 owner)

I'm really dying for one, so any observations are appreciated. Are you sure you don't have a coil spring version, the 7 seater has the air bag suspension but the 5 seater does not. At least as far as I can tell comparing packages. Also it seems you get 7 passengers/Air Suspension/2 speed...

Disco 5 hit with the ugly stick

I've owned multiple rovers and everyone screams blasphemy, it's the end of the world when there's a redesign. I agree its an evolutionary process with the goal to sell vehicles. While those of us who love the squareness remain stoic in our design likes, reality is designs have to change and I...

    Ticking sound

Yes it's a 2006 SE, I just put a set of factor rock sliders on. It has an aftermarket in dash Pioneer but other than that everything else is stock and I always try to use genuine LR parts. Keeping my fingers crossed every day!

    Ticking sound

Using the screwdriver or stethoscope method if the ticking is coming from right around the water pump I would be concerned it is the variable cam adjustment unit. Mine has been ticking for a couple of months and the repair is significant to the point that I'm holding off as long as possible...

    Diagnostic tool? iLand???

I have a nanocom and have had great luck with it, support is good and it does everything from factory functions to key reprogramming. I guess all of them have good points and bad, the nanocom is a stand alone so I just keep it in the truck and it's there if I need it.
