    Disco 5 Shifter Conversion

I have not pulled the trigger yet but dreaming about a Disco 5, I wonder what the possibility of swapping the shifter lever out of a RR Sport to replace the dumb looking rotary dial. The Disco 5 SVX has a shifter that looked like the RR stick.

    Change LR4 default vehicle height

Well that seems to be a common question and evidently there is no way to automatically drop to access mode based on what I can find in the manual and on line. Most users hit the lower button right before they get to their driveways and it's down when they get stopped.

    Double Din Radio Installation Fascia

I used something similar on my LR3, it was actually for a Freelander but it fit fine, the cage and stuff came with my Pioneer. You have to bypass the fiber optic backbone and I used the factory speakers and wiring. I have had no problems since the install but I did not have factory Nav. I did...

LT 285/65/18 Cooper Discoverer STT pro all terrain

JWest, it's ok man, we've been there and done that and opinions are like ass holes, everyone has one. I enjoy reading everyone's thoughts but for me ground clearance is the goal which as stated earlier can only be achieved with taller tires, regardless of the method used to get there. I used...

    Cyber Monday tire sales

I ordered the Proud Rhino kit on their cyber Monday sale and then got a set of 275/65-18 Goodyear Duratracs with $200 rebate on the Goodyear card. It definitely has made a difference in the look of the truck.

    LED swap help

For your reading pleasure attached below is 417-02 "Interior Lighting" from the LR3 manual. I would forget about swapping out the instrument lights, switch lights, etc. For one reason I have found that in some applications the LED lights make normal illumination look fake. I put LEDs in my...

    Move on or Fix

Publikdj I had the red suspension light coming on intermittently which would drop the truck to the bump stops. This happened after I had new upper control arms installed. I read that you need to re calibrate after suspension work so I hooked up the nanocom and ran the routine which improved...

    Move on or Fix

I have 220k plus on my '06 and it still runs strong although some days I can hear what I assume are the cam adjusters having a party. I bought mine with 170k and believe everything as far as engine and transmission are original. I was so frustrated with it two weeks ago that I put it on Craigs...

Does LR3 front cv axle diff seal need to be greased?

You're right mflecklr3, we are talking about different parts if that seal is what johdvd is talking about, my apology, I thought he was talking about the Birfield joints that are under the rubber pleated gaiters on the drive axles, not the seal at the diff. Thanks for clarifying.

Does LR3 front cv axle diff seal need to be greased?

I wouldn't view greasing those birfield joints as a regular maintenance item, I would think they would only need attention if the rubber gaiter is compromised. My point to johndvd is that yes there should be grease in that gaiter. As for what type of grease, the LR manual specifies "the grease...

New owner First Service Wrong oil????

Well I just went to oilspecifications.org and my mind is blown. It definitely says A5/B5 can be unusable in certain vehicles. Luckily I'll just stick with my Castrol for high mileage engines.

    Lagging accel pedal?

My LR3 does that same lag thing and I was just about to replace the accelerator position sensor to see if it improves throttle response. I had no idea it was the transmission. Thanks!

    Parking brake fault...

I had this issue and bought a new switch that didn't fix it so I searched the forums and following one of the threads check the wires and there was a broken wire down by the actuator. I was able to remove the spare tire, pull the loom through and solder in a new length of wire. That fixed the...

    2005 LR3 Cooling Issues

Attached is a description of the 4.0 system - my 4.4 .pdf is not correct for some reason. Hope this helps. Also I can tell you I had the same issue and had to re-bleed the system a couple of times to keep it from overheating but eventually it stayed at normal operating temperature.

    Looking at an 04 D2

Nice soliloquy but based on his original post I really don't think he wants or has the mechanical skill to effect all the build up you mention and again at least in Tennessee $12k plus for a Disco II is way high and having owned a RRC, Disco I, Disco II, and LR3 I stand by the LR3.
