2013 LR4 engine noise from back, not timing chain

The back of the engine is also the front of the transmission ..............

Some suspension fault codes this morning

Those connectors are suppose to have a positive snap-lock so I wonder how it unplugged itself. You mentioned that the pump was either replaced or something was done under CPO. Did it just take this long for the poorly seated plug to work its way loose or do you have a connector issue?

2011, 66k miles, flat battery issues

Maintaining increasing levels of ECU's when the vehicle is off is not dependent on the alternator. Agreed, smart charging has issues.

2011, 66k miles, flat battery issues

LR4's love to eat batteries. Four years? Not bad. When they go, bam, flat. Now think what the newer vehicles will need with all the additional electronics!

    5.0 v8 timing chains

Review the oil change interval. Should be 7500 or less. I change mine twice a year whether I'm at 7500 or earlier.

    Engine troubles - 3.0L SC V6 - possible multiple-injector failure

Never heard of Sheetz. They likely buy their fuel off the commodity market from several suppliers. While they are all 93 octane, the quality varies greatly. I have also heard, whether right or wrong, that the bottom of the supplier tank is sold at discount.

    Engine troubles - 3.0L SC V6 - possible multiple-injector failure

Well, relatively good news but I would still be questioning what happened. I'd be thinking about where you get your fuel and who might be the culprit for contamination.

This is a little odd to me.

"Your vehicle is also equipped with torque vectoring brakes in the rear which causes the brakes to be applied when turning even if you are not pressing the brake pedal." In summary this 'feature' adds $10K to maintenance cost (assuming dealer) over 75,000 miles. Now about the pollution created...

    Land rover hitch adaptor alternative

The factory hitch is commonly referred to as "the plow". The Rhino hitch sits where all receivers should be.

    Land rover hitch adaptor alternative

Rhino ............... been running it since its early days of production. No issues.

    Engine troubles - 3.0L SC V6 - possible multiple-injector failure

With multiple injector failures, that one bank had all fail, I'm not feeling really comfortable with just replacing fuel injectors. Injectors are just solenoids that the ECU actuates with ground. Remove the ground and internal springs return it to closed. One injector fail due to...

Known issues and how to prevent them: The People’s Answer

Would prefer to see vehicle maintenance history as a beginning. Also, was grandma the previous owner or was it heavily used in urban environments?

    LR4...the best. Still

For my last service visit they loaned me a D5. Usually it is a Evoque, which I hate. The D5 is a nice minivan with 4WD capabilities. I agree it has lost too much of what brought me to LR many years ago. I too was happy to get my LR4 back. The dealer service person did try and get my feedback on...

    Another Defender hint?

Interesting discussion/summary of the technology used for MHEV engines. MHEV - mild hybrid - does it really improve MPG High complexity and some insight into the need for a large number of ECU's. Feels like the source of the software managed torque curve (unnaturally flat) Are these are...

    Another Defender hint?

So in summary the new Defender offers no real engine option for those at altitude who also tow, needing torque, not off the line hp other than adding $12K to the price for a very complicated engine that offers no real advantage over the V6SC. My 5.0L is looking better than ever.

    Another Defender hint?

Thanks for the link. My quick build ended at $90K. Add in taxes and warranty the new Defender is $100K out of pocket. Not going to happen. My LR4 needs some lovin.

    Another Defender hint?

Yup, If you think of this as what the Discovery 5 should have been then I'm good with it. A LR4 with a D1/D2 rear door.

Camshaft sensor, timing belt or new engine? 2015 LR4 75K

Just a thought but mechanical issues don't appear and disappear. On the other hand electrical issues (sensors) can be intermittent and be sensitive to temperature. I agree, run away from anyone who can't do basic research to know whether you have a timing chain or belt.

    Another Defender hint?

Remember LR's stated intent to create 3 distinct product lines - RR, Discovery and Defender. The Discovery becomes a Touareg/Cayenne/..... The Defender is the next-gen LR4. Agreed that Defender class competition is increasing with the new Bronco, Gladiator, etc.

2011 LR 4 won't turn over, locked in Park, emergency brake set

$5K must be OEM/brand new. Just a quick search found remanufactured for $985. That is NOT a recommendation, just a search of what is out there.

LR4 5.0 Chain Guides actual problem?

That is one factor but timing chain issues are not isolated to JLR. Seems to have become more prevalent with new oils, higher operating temps, tighter design tolerances and drain intervals.
