    Camping Trailer

One last post for tonight. Appears Rhino Hitch would be the solution followed by total trailer weight LR4 spec. The OEM hitch really limits you.

Didn't feel right about 700+. In reality LR4 oem hitch is rated at 550 https://www.google.com/search?q=lr4%20tow%20weight&hl=en-US&gws_rd=ssl

Mine is 460. At 750 you are near the top of the LR OEM rating. (97% ?) Not sure what the Rhino is but do know it is limited by the LR4. It is class IV but the LR4 is class III. Running at the top end of specs is never a good thing.

    Camping Trailer

My experience with a wide-stance axle trailer is so far good. Little sway and bounce. We did have some old trailers in our camping history that were single axle. Definitely more bounce and sway but also old design so reference point is somewhat suspect but probably not too far off. Our rear...

    Camping Trailer

Glad we could oblige! When we made up a short list of features we wanted with a camp trailer they were pretty much the following: - Small, less than 20', preferably 18-19' - Light weight (under 5000 dry) - Light tongue weight (under 500) - Ground Clearance - Slide out to expand...

    Camping Trailer

Welded square steel tube frame with extended side tubes welded to top of camper frame, steel floor, square steel tube (3/4"?) supports that extend from outside edge of shelf to lowest point on frame to create wedge support. Roughly 50lbs for generator with EU2000i locking baseplate that is...

    LR5 Release Updates?

I would be shocked if LR doesn't already have a short list of vendors under NDA, working with same, with a specific future (sync'd with LR press release) expiration date on the NDA.

    Camping Trailer

A Keystone Bullet 19FBPR. Basically a 19' camper that is 23'8" total. Note in pic below the ground clearance and spread dual axle that works well on and off road. To it I added a rear shelf that has a locking baseplate for Honda EU2000i and space for a 22ga fresh water tank to compliment the...

    Camping Trailer

I was able to make that size fit without deflation. Removed/moved some of the shielding. Tight but worked. Forget it with the factory hitch installed that extends into the area. I also run load range E tires so sidewalls are stiffer. Solution was relocate tire to cargo and tie down. Well...

    Camping Trailer

For long highway climbs like I80 through Wy I sometimes downshift to keep the V8 at an optimal rpm for mph. For mountainous and trail work, who needs 6th? I will select what I want. I would think the V8/6-sp is better for altitude where you start down 20% in power. I holds the torque point...

    Camping Trailer

My requirement is dry camping in places I can access. If that includes some trail work the better. Since the below pic the LR hitch has been replaced with Rhino and 285/60-18 Grabber AT2 spare tire relocated from cargo to original factory storage. The factory hitch does not allow an oversize...

    Camping Trailer

I considered the Anderson but after over 2 years of towing, glad I skipped the cumbersome anti-sway/equilizer system. You are likely right that my double axle spread setup addresses sway issues. My old single axle campers bounced and swayed alot. I say cumbersome because I once did tow the same...

    Camping Trailer

Run a 2011 LR4 with Keystone 19FBPR that is ~4200lbs dry. While I haven't weighed it, I would think I'm around 5000 wet. No anti-swaybar/equilizer. Rely on Trailer Stability Assist. LR4/Camper package tows well through Colorado mountains and trips to Yellowstone and beyond. I would think LR's...

Is this possible to remove '16 LR4 running boards?

I would think rock sliders are an upgrade over the typically thin OEM running boards.

Picking up new LR4--what should I know?

Rhino installation is wrenches only. Will check torque after a few pulls. Never heard of notching the drawbar. I originally towed the trailer with my RRC LWB / 4.6L. Did use an equalizer. She was not a happy camper. :-) The LWB was happy to see the LR4 arrive and take over those duties. Now...

Picking up new LR4--what should I know?

With the OEM plow I had to size the draw bar at an appropriate "rise", basically upside down. With the Rhino the draw bar was in normal config, or drop. With the LR4 I don't use equilizer/anti-sway bars to pull a 19'/5000# TT. Overall it will be nice not having to install/remove/store the OEM...

Picking up new LR4--what should I know?

I wouldn't waste $$$'s on a factory hitch/plow. First, it is literally a plow sitting so low. Fitting oversize tires into the spare location requires them to be deflated. With wedge/pins and locks, will require winter maintenance. Get the Rhino hitch from http://www.differentialpartsus.com...
