    Help Please

Ouch! My local Land Rover dealership is 6 miles from my house so I took my chances on driving there this morning without a thermostat. I added water in hopes that it would keep the engine cool for the 10 minute drive. I literally made it to the entrance of the dealership before seeing a smokey...

    Help Please

It's part of owning a LR I suppose. I really don't want to order a whole new housing, I just need to part that unscrews with the T25 hex screws. The t-stat has two medal sides that slide into place within the plastic on the housing. I guess the plastic had become weak and essentially broke.

    Help Please

Found the problem. The thermostat was fine, but noticed the little grooves the t-stat slides into inside of the housing, one of the plastic grooves completely broke off of the housing. I guess I'll have to order a new housing. Joy.

    Help Please

Yes it was opening normally before this. I'm using Dex-Cool 50/50. I'm not sure why this is happening. I'm about to open the t-stat housing as we speak and make sure the t-stat isn't bad.

    Help Please

I added the antifreeze to the "Cold Fill Range" and drove it down the road and noticed the engine temp gauge was at red. I pulled back into the garage and the antifreeze tank was filled to the brim. What is causing this and should I just drain the coolant out and fill it back up, but with LESS...

    Anti-Freeze

I recently changed my t-stat and lost more than enough coolant from detaching hose in the process. I poured the remaining coolant back into the anti-freeze tank and now I'm a bit low from the coolant I lost. I am the second owner of the truck and haven't done any coolant flushes so I'm not sure...

    Thanks.

    How To?

No warranty on my LR3. Therefore I do the general service work myself. After I change the oil and filters, is there a way to reset the service indicator or do I have to take it to a dealer to have it reset?

    RPM Needle Fluxuating

From what I have gathered from other online sources is that it could be anything from water in the fuel, a broken part in the throttle body, a dirty mass airflow sensor, or a dirty air filter. I also read that the other LR3 owners had taken to the shop after experiencing this, but that the...

    RPM Needle Fluxuating

Started my truck last night and headed down the road. I got about a mile from home and noticed my RPM's rising and dropping rapidly from 1k-2k. I'm not sure what the cause is? As the motor warmed up it didn't occur as often or as vast as 1000-2000rpms. The needle would fluxuate at idle as well...

Looking at an 06 LR3, help needed

I've got an '05 with 84,600 miles on it. I am the second owner. Although I have only put about 8k miles on it I have had no major issues. I have only changed out the t-stat.

    Fluids?

I was reading over the 90k service sheet my local dealer gave to me and it says to replace brake fluid every 3 years. Is this a good time or should I do sooner? Also, it says to replace flexible brake hoses every six.

    Drilling Tips

Silly me, at first I had not used cutting oil and right away I could see my $30 HSS bit being chewed away by the steel. Luckily I didn't go too long without the oil. I'll keep these measurements in mind next time I go for a rear shackle. Thanks.

    Drilling Tips

Thanks. I had to use a 7/8" bit and cutting oil to bore the hole out. The pin still did not fit so I sanded it down.

    Good Story. Thanks Johnson Rods.

I was going out with a few friends last night. As I pulled to a stop light I was rear ended. Slightly. The girl was in a small SUV with her little brother. She was 16 years old. No one was hurt, thankfully. Because it was dark out I could not see the damage clearly so this morning I looked and...

    Drilling Tips

I purchased two 3/4" D-ring shackles for my front bumper. The holes in the bumper for the shackles measure 3/4", but the shackle pin is slightly larger therefore the pin will not slide through the hole. I'm kind of nervous about drilling through the powder coated bumper, but I will do it. I got...

2006 LR3 horn is not working

Check the wiring on the horn itself. It may of come loose from the connection.

    Do you rotate your tires?

I haven't done a rotation yet on my Kelly Safari TSR's, but I'm due for one sooner than later. I'll probably do B mainly because of the tire wear pattern.

    Transmission replacement

You don't have to pay their price. I know of someone who ordered a rebuild from RoverLandParts and he hasn't had any issues with it. http://www.roverlandparts.com/LR3-transmissions-complete.aspx
