    Should I get this LR4?

some places may just replace tensioners- I’d make sure they replace the entire chain and tensioners.

    2011 LR4 Misfire/rough idle

Codes? Have you had timing checked? It’s possible your guides are just worn enough to cause a misfire on startup and for it to be slightly out of time. At 93k miles, it is possible that you are at that point. Sounds like all the other most likely things that would cause ignition issue have...

it’s not bad on injectors. About 4-5 hours. There’s a whole thread on it. Check out misfire thread.

Odd Engine Noise part 2, with video!

I’ve heard fan clutch going bad usually goes away when warm. Definitely does not sound like timing chain rattle to me. you certain it’s not fan?

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

Not available means it can’t get a readout. Did you just run it? Usually takes about 5-10 minutes of sitting after shutoff to register. Also, that’s reading “low”. The grey bar moves up when it’s full. Should be grey up to the top of the gauge. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Alternative to Dealer Only Castrol Professional "E" for 2014-16 LR4's

:driver:as long as my truck’s happy, I’m happy. And you never know, it did snow here for about an hour this week...(kidding of course)

Alternative to Dealer Only Castrol Professional "E" for 2014-16 LR4's

I run 0w20 in mine for specifically the 0w at startup. It’s to keep lubrication at low temp and provide the same performance as spec oil at temp. Improved fuel efficiency is minimal, it’s more about getting the oil where it needs to go while the engine is cold. I’m not an oil geek, but just...

    2011 LR4 Misfire/rough idle

If you don’t have a Gap IID tool, highly recommend getting one before blindly throwing parts at it. edit: I take that back...didn’t mean blindly...but it’s acting on a hunch rather than data. The parts on these aren’t always cheap and it’s best to know before putting parts in it on a hope.

    2011 LR4 Misfire/rough idle

I would not think this is timing related. 115k, I’d start with the HPFP as it sounds more intermittent. But It could be unrelated. I’m glad @avslash also suspected the hpfp as that gives me more confidence. as I’m also hearing more, it could potentially be your low pressure side too. I’m...

    2011 LR4 Misfire/rough idle

not sure! Have you tried injector cleaner? Is it a intermittent issue or constant? Mine would misfire immediately on start up. does it run fine and then misfire? Are you getting a random misfire code? I’m guessing more along the lines of coil packs or a high pressure fuel pump starting to...

Alternative to Dealer Only Castrol Professional "E" for 2014-16 LR4's

It’s still a full oil change...Just wanted to point out per spec it’s 8 liters not 8 quarts (8.45 quarts). I wouldn’t be concerned in any way shape or form as it’s a very big sump, but I noticed it in the manual and I’m anal retentive with my truck.

Yeah buddy. I saw @gsxr post about the source and that’s helpful info. May give some others confidence to take the plunge. Hope it turns out well and the $ saved far outweigh the risk! always for saving money if it makes sense.

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

Great question, from what I’ve heard, there is a small amount of oil that remains in the pan (less than 1/2 quart) but I don’t believe it’s enough to really make a difference. I’ve heard of folks draining from below every couple of changes, but I have not seen any data that would support that...

    Costco's Kirkland Signature 5W-20?

Haha. Joking of course- I never change my oil in a full tux or drink a martini while doing it- but I could if I wanted to! That’s how little mess the mightyvac makes of the job. To your point on the quality of Kirkland oil, I was not implying that I am certain it is not quality, anymore than...

    Costco's Kirkland Signature 5W-20?

Yeah, we hear you. Nice thing about it being your truck- it’s totally up to you. I still think sourcing a quality oil at a reasonable price and investing in a mightyvac is the most sensible and reliable method. Gives the truck quality oil at a price I can afford, I know it’s done right, and I...

    Costco's Kirkland Signature 5W-20?

I’ll stick with my current oil. It’s not that much of a cost difference throughout the year to run a premium oil. I tend to gravitate towards OE parts as well. I’m sure there are several aftermarket parts that would be perfectly adequate- but just less interested in taking the chance. I’m...

    Engine troubles - 3.0L SC V6 - possible multiple-injector failure

i know nothing about the SC engine, but I’m curious if you’d need to remove the SC to get to the plugs and injectors. I was able to do my injectors and plugs with my intake manifold still in position. I’d think the supercharger could stay in place as well. All I had to remove were wire looms...
