2011 LR4 Misfire/rough idle
I got mine with 115k on the clock. My intakes are very nasty. Not sure all that crud would be good to go through the engine, so leaving it alone for now. T case is to fill plug. Diffs are specific volume. I can’t remeber what volume is, but I’d fill what was drained (unless you have a leak).- scott schmerge

throttle body on 5 litre LR4?
Just throttle body cleaner, a rag, and a toothbrush. Four bolts and electrical connection to remove. I cleaned mine with tb heater hose still attached. I used my gap tool to recalibrate after manually manipulating it. It still was throwing codes after cleaning and the gap tool cleared that...- scott schmerge

CEL: Barometric Pressure Sensor
I used a toothbrush soaked in throttle body cleaner to get around pivot points in tb. Worked like a charm. My codes were very intermittent at first, but then more and more frequent. Got the map sensor code several times.- scott schmerge

Dirty throttle body. Very minor carbon buildup can cause it. Clean it really well and see if that solves it. It did for me. Pretty easy fix.- scott schmerge

The sleeves and bridge themselves are not in the transmission. If you drop the pan, the mechatronic unit is right there (it’s 13 extra screws). The sleeves bridge to the transmission. It’s actually an easy job. Every clunk is wear, and if those seals are going bad, this repair is really an ounce...- scott schmerge

Crankcase Ventilation Valves LR4 5.0 engine
Question for the group. On the top of the passenger side valve cover in the back are the pcv valves. Has anyone on here had them fail? If so, assuming they are replaceable? The lr3 is a snap to replace the single valve, but have not explored how to replace these valves on the 5.0 engine and...- scott schmerge

If you run Mercon ATF as to Ford's spec and it shifts a little too firm or harsh, switching to GM's ATF fluid will result in softer and smoother shifts due to their fluid having slightly more lubricity properties. Same opposite results replacing GM's fluid in a GM vehicle by adding Ford's spec...- scott schmerge

Just had it and was able to get it corrected. It’s your reservoir valve block. Easy rebuild. I need to put some new o rings in mine, but a good cleaning has kept it free of faulting. Essentially the valve that controls air flow to the reservoir stays closed, therefore “pressure increases too...- scott schmerge

Pentosin ATF1 is made to oe spec for transmission (what I’m running now). 5 quart jug will run you $80 on amazon. Drain and fill is about 5.5-7 quarts. AB sells lifeguard 6 from zf for about $27 a quart plus shipping. They sell a kit for the filter change (including 7 quarts of fluid) for north...- scott schmerge

Second that...most independent mechanics would say change your transmission fluid between 60-70k miles. If you’re going to delay, might at least be worth draining and refilling (without filter change).- scott schmerge

So, update...although Mercron SP is technically compatible with zf transmissions, after about 1000 miles, the trans was holding gear longer than I’d like and had a harsher 2-1 kick occasionally. $1,200 shipping bill for roof rack.

My understanding, it’s an aluminum block...hence the orange/red coolant. Weak point designed using plastic (in favor of a lighter engine)...
