Friggin crazy. In the workshop manual it references removing the differential and I kind of ignored it thinking it unnecessary. Then I was looking for the access hole above the starter and it hit me- and I started looking at the manual again- and sure as $hi7, they moved the damn thing to the...- scott schmerge

Sh17!!!!!! Those jackasses moved the torque converter access from behind the starter (on LR3) to behind the freaking differential on the LR4. Differential removal required just to access torque converter bolts!!!!! I’m tapping out! It’s going back together and I’m paying my guy $1000 to do...- scott schmerge

Yes, replaced those during last service (about 3000mi ago) Nothing was wrong with my previous solenoids, just wanted it done to rule out issues. Not planning to take the solenoids out of the donor valve body. I also have a second set that is also good (already pulled). Plan is to pull valve...- scott schmerge

I’m talking with GAP IID now and they are saying it can be reflashed to the truck. It does require to be programmed to the vehicle, I know that much. I heard from someone else that they are single use. I’m leaning with trusting GAP team advice, but man am I going to be frustrated if they are...- scott schmerge

Transmission comes out this afternoon! Question, does anyone know if I can use the donor TCM and reflash with my gap tool? Or do i need to move my original tcm to the new valve body? i.e. is the TCM a single use?- scott schmerge

Thanks! Ordered. Nothing on amazon that matched unless a full set. Just needed the 13mm. I can stomach $30 for this. Thanks for sending that over. Going to attempt to get the transfer case off before pulling the transmission down. This should help get the job done.- scott schmerge

Not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure!!!! Hit my first snag. There’s a 13mm adapter in the manual- this is an extension to get enough leverage on the transfer case to transmission bolts (assuming transmission as well). About 3.5 hours so far on removal. No more updates until Friday...- scott schmerge

The Gap IID tool is really good for everything your buddy with the $4000 tool can do. Not sure about the Bosch. Gap tool is an extra 200, but probably worth the added investment. Erik Torno at Lucky 8 sells them, but sure you could get a pre owned one for less. It’s $30 to have it switched over...- scott schmerge

False start. Got it up on stands and realized I need female Torx sockets for driveline (prop shaft and drive shaft). Access looks somewhat tight from transfer case to transmission. Much more room around bell housing once exhaust removed. May try to take it out in one piece...transfer case and...- scott schmerge

It’s here! Shorter than I thought (17” tall from bottom of pan to top of bell housing). This will slide under, no problem. Teardown starts tomorrow am. Still going to go in from underneath. Will document progress and learnings as I go!- scott schmerge
