I’m doubtful the software upgrade would fix as well...do you happen to know what the code was? Also, if they are going to make you pay, you might get the manager involved and have them agree if the $245 does not fix it that they will eat the cost. Good deal! On the screw, you can find plastic ones at local auto parts stores. It’s technically a bmw bleeder screw but is the same size. I’ll see if I can find the part number.- scott schmerge

that possibly means airlock (air expands more than coolant when hot). Leave cap off and it should suck most of fluid back in. Air pockets should rise near bleed screws. Once thermostat opens it will come out of the bleed holes. Make sure your heater is on high, both front and back. Heat should blow hot if it’s bled correctly (that means heater core has water flowing). When you open expansion tank after it gets hot, did coolant rise? If so, leave top off and...- scott schmerge

Good to hear Adrien! Glad it worked out for you. I had the trans shop that did mine quote $5k for a rebuild too. I have not noticed that, but interesting observation. I’m at 125k and chain is still tight with original guides. PO changed oil religiously at 5k intervals. Both are true. They are accessible without moving anything at all! But I’ll take a difficult to access PCV valve over a 19 hour timing chain update any day of the week . Although I wouldn’t trade my V8! Thanks for the write-up!- scott schmerge

V8 no question. One that has been well maintained and preferably has had timing chain and crossover pipe addressed. I wouldn’t worry about the year. 2010-2013 are all great choices. You’ll know when you find the right one. Pay for a pre purchase inspection with a good independent- scott schmerge

No sir. Service that transmission! Speaking from experience. PO did not service and ended up with a 4 month headache and a replacement transmission. My truck only had 115k at time of purchase and already had failing torque converter.- scott schmerge
