firestone does a lifetime...I think it was $170. I’ve already gotten my money’s worth. ~5-6 alignments in a year... almost every oil change. Tire rotation $15. I’ve never felt out of alignment there but have to set it in tight tolerance mode (using gap iid) to make sure it’s as tight a range...
YouTube is a great source of info, but I find this forum far more helpful for diagnosing. I swapped my bushings for cheap using the bushing kit from Atlantic British. I jacked the car under the frame, dropped the LCA (left it connected by the ball joint without even taking off the tire). Then...
right, but the fact that the mechanic didn’t know that and most of the armatures (myself included) on this forum did, is the problem...I still would emphasize, fire the mechanic for ignorance. It’s not that he’s a bad guy, he’s just clearly not aware of how these trucks work.
you’ll get more out than 1/2. If you leave it open for 24 hours, you’ll be amazed at how much more will drip. Also, highly suggest new seals on mechatronic if you are changing transmission fluid
your steering angle sensor and alignment first. That will cause this kind of thing...echo other posts. Get a gap tool, a better mechanic, and alignment. Little things like sensors may make you feel like the world is crashing down...usually it’s all related and not a big deal if you have someone...
that “oil or transmission” leak is an oil leak, no question. Not a huge concern. Most likely the vacuum pump for the brake system. They have a tendency to leak. Mine is leaking now...it’s on the bottom of the engine. Leaks about 1/2 quart every 5000 miles which is acceptable for a rover... it...
Yes, if it starts sounding like a Diesel engine, they are on the way out. Best way to keep it from happening is do 5k-7500 mile oil change intervals. I have not heard of one instance of failure at that interval...although I’m sure there are cases out there
Because it’s virtually impossible to put in the new hose without removal of crossover pipe...speaking from experience. I also broke the elbow when replacing my water pump and had to replace this hose.
Found my issue...cracked the damn valve cover tab on the pcv valve. $1400 mistake. Careful. That plastic is brittle! I needed a new valve cover anyway...rhs was leaking oil...so there’s a silver lining.
Hey all,
getting p0171 and p0174. Did the pcv valves. No change. Next step to smoke test unless anyone has any other ideas...seems like a vacuum leak that came on suddenly. Really odd
That’s the back inlet most likely. Don’t know a part number on that either. It’s basically a crossover on the back of the engine. But it could also be your front crossover leaking down the valley...

It’s the new updated coolant return. Not sure if a part number. Assuming it’s where the pressure fit is?
Bad news is you gotta re-pull the crossover. Good news is you identified the leak.

Its not hard to learn and this group knows a ton, but GAP (Patrick) also is incredibly responsive, knowledgeable, and a great resource. This is the first item any Land Rover owner should buy- it has literally saved me thousands of dollars.
there’s about 1 million reasons to have a gap tool. One of those 1million is identify the trouble codes and know what’s wrong...then fix it, then clear the trouble codes after its fixed.
I would not anticipate that a trouble code once cleared, would not come back. If you don’t fix the issue...
