Thoughts on 2021 Bronco as LR4 replacement?

although the markets for each vehicle are not exactly the same, certainly the entrenched Land Rover crowd using a Defender for off road have to be silently bemoaning all the features this Bronco has for off-roading. The most important features are cost of ownership and ease to work on. Looks...

    Another Defender hint?

For the record, b4 Brady left, the Pats were my team. And a pic does tell a thousand words. Love those fender flares... I'm good. I can be done complaining about something I can't change. Agree with your points above. Cheers ps. the pic is an rd1 (early model CRV and not the new Defendre)

I miss Tom Brady in that uniform. Thanks for the video. Does Seattle still have a team? Is the NFL even a thing anymore?

why don't you take your Defendre crap to another forum if you don't want people here to comment on it. I have an LR4 and this is an LR4 forum, and I'll probably just keep it as a 3rd vehicle so don't hold your breath waiting for 2023. So, as long as you keep talking about a defendre on the LR4...

    Another Defender hint?

That's all great. Too bad it looks like a chinese knockoff of a first gen rd1. If we are all being real, it looks a bit toy like. sorry, the odd fender flares, narrowed canopy, cheap interior and the "trying way to hard to be hip" lights. I really don't know what the heck this is trying to be...

Thoughts on 2021 Bronco as LR4 replacement?

It's a purpose built vehicle. Let concerned about the # of cylinders. Agree, if you are looking for tow capacity, this is disappointing for sure. I guess you just can't have it all. pick your poision. Wondering how those old broncos stacked up in hp and torque? Long day so I am too lazy to...

can't take the top off on a unibody and expect it to do anything other than pavement and light duty offroad IMO. So, don't hold your breath on that one.

Uh, this is the internet. That's not how it works.

    Another Defender hint?

It's worse than that. I had hoped the new Defendre would be a replacement for our LR4 when our warranty expires in May of 2023. So, not only do I hate it, but I am p!$$3d that JLR pulled another Discovery5 trick on LR4 owners. That leaves only two categories of people owning the new Defendre...

    Another Defender hint?

Yes, yes, yes we all agree. Take your "Defendre" discussions to the Defender forum where you'll really get your @$& chewed out by actual Defender owners. The reason people are crapping on it is b/c it is, well, crappy. Sorry. If new "Defendre" owners don't want to hear it, then don't tell...

Thoughts on 2021 Bronco as LR4 replacement?

wouldn't shock me if the 3l diesel from the f150 becomes a future option. F150 used the same gas engines as the new bronco, so not a big leap to think it will eventually have that baby diesel.

    Another Defender hint?

are you sure that's a good idea with that monocoque? hate to see someone stuck and pull the subframe right off... With that unibody, you might be better to spend the money on a AAA membership or something.

    Another Defender hint?

it is a joke. I think they must have some kids doing their design or something without much user feedback or focus groups. Defender is a more egregious fail IMHO as they had a blue print. Instead they made it look like a chinese knockoff. I am half surprised they didn't name is a Defendur or...

    Another Defender hint?

The salient point to the above is not that Bronco is "not the miracle cure...", it's that most all of us agree that Land Rover does, in fact, need a miracle cure. And to quote the man, "...the new Defender ain't it!"

    Another Defender hint?

Exactly, 100% true. Laughing at people who are justifying buying a Defender as their "only" real choice. Too funny. You could buy a D5, a Velar, a RR or whatever other esoteric vehicle JLR makes. They are all the same. It's like Derrick Zoolander's looks. The design and look and feel of the...

    Another Defender hint?

that does suck. Surprised they wouldn't get it to 5k at least. they did a lot of best in class and exclusive to class, but may have just punted on towing. I guess they looked at the wrangler and figured, at 200k unit a year, it's not a big deal. I'd have to agree.

you can almost count on it.

    Another Defender hint?

Agree that it won't be a replacement. But, if you bifurcate the two things that are awesome about the LR4 (offroad and luxury) there isn't much to replace it with. Sadly, the D5 is the closest. So, those that primarily go for Luxury would likely go the RR route and those that are more offroad...

    Another Defender hint?

If the LR4 was a Niche market, over 3500 towing capacity for potential Defender buyers has to be a niche of niche. Given Jeep is on the 200k mark year over year for the wrangler, I'd say the use case is outlier. How many Defenders do you think JLR will sell in a year? The G wagon is silly. Come...
  23. D

    Another Defender hint?

Exactly. Few reasonable off-roaders are going to pay $80k just because it performs well off road. You can get a used jeep that does that for a heck of a lot less. I agree with all your assessments. As I have said, JLR is betting there are enough posers out there to make this profitable. Enough...

    Another Defender hint?

Huh? That's not the way I remember it. The redesigned RRS was a hit from the word go in my mind. I had friends flocking to buy one. It looks well built. It looked like an expensive vehicle. I don't have any friends talking about the Defender like that. Not one. FF to now. You just can't tell...
