    If I were back in the US on that type of terrain, I would go with 265/65. I am here in the Middle East on soft sand when offroad. That is why I went with the 285/60s. It is all about your footprint for "floating" on sand. I also have to air down to about 18psi.

    As the guys said, it is NOT an insignificant difference in size!! It is just a shade over 1" larger than the 285/60s. This is a diameter issue and you are going to have significant rubbing on the framehorns turning lock to lock. Also, as Umberto pointed out, you will struggle to get it fitted in...

    Yea, I really have to give it to LR; They made this thing as durable as it gets! Sure you can find cheaper alternatives from the 3rd party manufacturers on the net, but not all mats are designed equal!! The LR mat is very very thick and heavy. A quality product that I highly recommend.

    Yea, that is not really a valid argument because you could simply do the exact same thing to the LR4 for lift. The starting point in the RRS is always going to be lower though. The lack of aftermarket off-road gear with the RRS is reason enough for me to stay away.

    I always knew the two were on the same platform, but isn't the ride height also lower on the RRS? You compromise ground clearance for more on-road performance in the RRS. That was always what I was led to believe. (On top of what you already pointed out.)

    Funny, my '13 came with digital speedo and global window open / close with remote from the dealer. I have really only used my IIDTool to disable TPMS and store EAS presets.

    It is common advice NOT to run the stock spare with the oversized off-road tires. You end up with quite a bit of a rolling difference (diameter) and this will cause increased wear on the diff, if not outright damage at highway speed. 255/55R19 is 30.04 inches (stock) 285/60R18 is 31.46 inches

    You absolutely do NOT need to do all of that work to accommodate 285/60R18 tires! They are actually just slightly smaller diameter than 265/65R18 (by a mere 0.1 inch). You do not need to run rods or a lift whatsoever. I do not have any rubbing on the plastic from the increased width either...

    I can't help but think by the time you have put together parts (if its compatible) for a full set of LR3 brakes, you'd be into a sizable amount of the cost of Compomotives. Why downgrade brakes? I don't think I have heard of anyone approaching wheel / tire options from this angle.

    Never been a fan of K&N. Sure, they allow more airflow simply because the are more porous. They just allow more shit into the engine. Just no way I would run one here in the desert or any offroad conditions.
