power outlets (front and rear) don't work

Just remove the offending relay in the passenger compartment fuse box and install a simple bridge in its place, you'll catch two birds with one stone (the power outlets will work again, and will stay hot even with the engine off.) Instructions here...

    warnings galore

Yeah, I would have guessed brake switch half way through your story - the issue was far more common with LR3s apparently, but a switch is a switch and when it fails everything cascades after that, and you basically can't drive the car. Some of us carry a spare brake switch in the tool bags of...

    Another Defender hint?

Another angle - I am starting to get near the neighborhood of being almost moderately excited. At regular height, with smaller wheels and big chunky tires that thing might look good! https://www.dropbox.com/s/ns4oltkcxx5r7uy/rear.jpeg?dl=0

    Battery life

It's the norm. It very much depends on your usage and driving conditions - frequent stops / short commutes in freezing cold weather are likely to wear out a battery quicker than someone driving longer stretches of road in mild temperatures year round for example - but, as I have said before, in...

    Jack broken

They are strong enough if positioned properly under the 4 jacking points of the car. If the locating pin is not evenly aligned with the matching hole on the chassis, or if the terrain it's resting on is not flat and even, it'll easily bend, snap and break. I had to use mine off-road a few...

    Suspension creaking squawking

Whenever my front end has started sounding like an old mattress over sharp speed bumps or under fairly hard braking at a stoplight, both on my old RRS and my LR4, it's always been the front sway bar bushings. That would be my chief suspect. Over time, the creak and squeal should become louder...

LR4 rear entertainment system not working

What model year LR4. Is this a recent issue, meaning "Rear Media" used to be an available option before but now that button is gone from the front touchscreen menus? And what do you mean that both rear screens turn on "separately"? They should turn on briefly together along with the ignition snd...

    Compomotive PD 1881 finish delamination

I have all sorts of scuff marks and scratches on my 6-year old Compos (PD1880, your immediate predecessors), all pretty much sustained on the trail while rock crawling. Nothing like that, however. Where there was no direct contact with a hard object, the finish is still in perfect shape. Mine...

SELLING Grey Compomotive Wheels & 265/65 BFG KO2 Tires!!!

Of course! Just about to hit the 200K miles mark (I'll take a photo when I do), just been busy with work and family and don't stop by here much anymore. And you?

SELLING Grey Compomotive Wheels & 265/65 BFG KO2 Tires!!!

They won't fit on the new Discovery by a hair, or by a lot? Just curious, as I thought these would fit the new Disco but probably in other countries with different / smaller brakes.

Well, it's here in the wild somewhere (sorry, you'll have to watch this on YouTube):

    Who wants oil!

I believe that's for their newer diesel engines (and perhaps for older engines as well.)

    GAP TOOL USES SURVEY

You're not the only one. I have a 2013, same as you. As I said elsewhere, the warning is brief enough that it doesn't bother me at all - I am used to it.

More sidewall for 19in wheels - tire options

I don't have an opinion or experience with 19" tires as I run on 18s, but any passenger tire that's not Extra Load Range rated is not recommended for the LR4, regardless of size. I would stick to that recommendation from the manufacturer, I don't care what people's passionate opinions on the...

Stupid newb question - Tire Pressure display

Yup, I don't believe that's a menu available on pre-2014s. My 2013 has no such sub-menu available in the Service Menu either, which is where the PSI readings from the TPMS should (logically, but this is a Land Rover...) be located. I can only check the engine oil level there - as long as the...

    Who wants oil!

OK, since we are in monkeywrenching mode... I have been using Mobil 1 Extended Performance / High Mileage 5W-30 on my 2013 since about two years ago, on the recommendation of my indy tech. This to minimize a small leak from the rear seal that was causing me to lose about a quart of 5W-20 oil...

    Who wants oil!

I believe factory oil specs changed when the SCV6 engine was introduced in 2014 on the LR4. Used to be 5W20 for the V8, s/b 0W20 for the V6. Not sure why, but I guess everyone here is correct. :)

What does LR4 L319 with Suffixe -10 mean?

You'll find those codes in many chapters of the GAP tool manual. L319-10 means that it applies to the Discovery 4 / LR4 exclusively, suffix "-10" indicating Model Year 2010 (and later.) L319-04 applies to Disco/LR3 only, meaning 2004 to 2009 model years. L319 without either suffix applies to...

2010 LR4 - TPMS on spare OFF in IIDToolBT

I have a 2013 and also haven't been able to turn spare tire monitoring off with IIDTool (I carry an 18" partially deflated down there.) I haven't pursued this issue with GAP and just live with the spare tire warning, no big deal since it only lasts a few seconds at engine startup.

    GAP TOOL USES SURVEY

Mine chirps - a short honk from the horn, really - if I press the lock button a second time. The first time it doesn't, it just flashes the blinkers (and folds the mirrors if you have that feature enabled) as usual. The honk on second lock press is useful if you are walking away and can't see /...

    GAP TOOL USES SURVEY

2014s don't automatically lower to access mode when you turn them off (unless you are inside the car and push the access height button), the EAS of the 2014s behave no different than they did on earlier model years. Perhaps you saw the car self level (something our 2013s often do as well shortly...

    2012 LR4 Speaker Replacement

There should be two speakers in there in the HK configuration, a mid range (upper, you kind of see it through the grille) and a bass/woofer (lower) speaker. Upper s/b part # LR029719, lower LR057786.
