PSA - Herbor Freight jack stands recall

Harbor Freight, sorry... Figured some of you may have these in your garage. I have a couple of the 6-ton models myself (although they turned out to be a different item #, so not subject to the recall): https://images.harborfreight.com/hftweb/recalls/Jack-Stand-Recall-56371_61196_61197.pdf

3K oil change intervals for our LR4s?

IIRC, that was the factory recommended oil service interval for diesel powered Discovery 4s, which were a much more popular option (in many European countries, the only option) outside of North America. For petrol V8 and SCV6 engines, I believe the same interval recommended in the US - 15K mi...

    Another Defender hint?

My 110 was supposed to be built on 4/3, but of course that date came and went since the Nitra plant shut down 2 weeks earlier. Dealer is now hoping for late July delivery (it was originally scheduled for late May arrival to Los Angeles.) We'll see. I hear from the dealer quite a few orders are...

    Easter Eggs

Every time you perform a "hard reset" (equivalent to temporarily disconnecting the battery) by writing a modified CCF to the car using IIDTool, you will need to reset the clock / date, your trip computers will zero out, you may need to switch back from Celsius to Fahrenheit and/or from km to...

You can enable global windows close with IIDTool (in markets such as NA where that feature is disabled.)

    IID tool question

I live in Altadena, so if you are in Pasadena I guess I am... a couple of blocks north of your house? :)

    IID tool question

Howdy, fellow Pasadena resident. :) The difference between IIDTool Pro (the $2k+ unit) and the "regular" IIDTool BT ($500 or so) is that the former is not locked to a specific VIN, so it can be used - in theory by an independent mechanic, the customer the Pro was designed for - on any supported...

    Another Defender hint?

Autoblog review. As the press embargo is lifted, we should start getting tons of them now - including from the journalists that went to Namibia. On sucky news, the Slovakia plant has been closed since 3/20 .. (UK plants are shut down as well.) Who knows when I'll my new Defender now.

    Another Defender hint?

Ha, if I were concerned about Land Rovers' build quality I would not have become an owner 15 years ago and would still be driving a 4Runner... I have been blessed with trouble free"'new" LR vehicles this far (an 06 RRS and my current LR4) that were supposedly gonna be big trouble. Hope my streak...

Low temperature affecting oil level sensor?

I remember the opposite problem, someone with a new LR4 in hot SoCal weather checked the level 20 minutes after shutting off the engine (oil was still very hot, obviously) and got an equally dire Overfilled, See Dealer message, which went away overnight as the oil volume shrunk to a more...

    Another Defender hint?

Goodyear recently added a 255/65R19 Wrangler Duratrac on its web site (as well as the mentioned Wrangler Adventure, same size.) At 32.25" dia. it may be a smidgen too tall to run on an unmodified LR4 without some rubbing, but at 255 it would also be quite skinny, so probably a very close call...
