I think the TSB was for 2015-2016. Mine is a 2014… I’m not sure what the difference would be, but that TSB def leaves out my year.
I’m heading out to the garage in a bit and I’ll check what you recommended.
IG @discofervor - I just looked you’re following, I just followed back!
I was posting pretty consistently for a while, but I’ve not been so active lately.
We just hit the 1 year mark with our 2014 LR4, which is also my 1 year mark as a Land Rover owner. So far we’ve been pretty fortunate, having bought the truck with 75,000 miles and no warranty.
We’ve put 10,000 miles on it (all adventure, we don’t commute and this is our third vehicle anyway...
Yeah I referenced this thread quite a bit while doing my search.
I ended up buying the hub from Lucky8 (which wasn’t the entire assembly) and instead of pulling the hub apart and potentially compromising the bearing, I pulled a lug stud out and pressed it into the hub on the vehicle.
In the...
2014. And yes- you’re correct. I chalked it up to Lucky8s website being a bit of a mess. I’d hope they wouldn’t sell me a part that doesn’t fit.
From what I can tell the hubs are the same across all US LR4s.
Coming from BMW world, I’m still astonished by what a disaster the entire Land Rover...
After the climb into the Sierras up to Coyote Flat and back down (which battered all 4 of my brand new wheels pretty good) I got on the highway and noticed a sound. I stopped the truck to do a quickly once over and noticed a couple loose lug nuts. When I tightened them up one snapped. So the...
They’re just pressed in. You don’t repair the stud, you replace it- and it’s basically a bolt with splines you can press back into the hub with something like a joint separator (some people seat them by placing a bunch of washers on it and using a lug nut to essentially “pull” the splines into...
I broke a lug stud a couple weeks ago and I’m having a difficult time finding a replacement. It appears these studs can only be purchased along with a new hub.
However, my hub is fine and I don’t want to spend a $250 (timken) or $700 (LR) for a replacement hub when I don’t need it.
Yes, I...
Ouch. This is not a job I’d want to use anything but the best part I could get my hands on for.
I purchased the front crossover pipe from British Parts of Utah. They offer the OEM “improved design” as a single SKU. I was so tired of playing part number roulette...
Possibly over-tightened. I’m going to contact American Racing tomorrow and pick their brains. While these wheels are not super common, they are specific enough I can’t imagine there are many applications outside of the LR3/LR4 for the bolt pattern.
For what it’s worth, the wheels took a...
I might be, depending on the integration. I’m a bit of a nerd and would actually enjoy doing something like this myself.
My coolant crossover pipes have been replaced to the “improved design” and I travel with tools and another set of coolant crossover pipes... so... brave, but not dumb. Haha
They are hub centric. I wouldn’t buy wheels that aren’t, especially for such a heavy truck I’d be off-roading in. Hub centric/no spacers. I’m a bit of a purist, I guess.
I was totally thinking of finding something like this. Because of the faulty sensor, I live with a low coolant warning on. I have to replace the sensor but maybe need to do this as well. Obviously LR can’t be trusted.
Over the weekend we hit Coyote Flat in the Sierras to camp at Funnel Lake (elevation 10,400 ft).
On the way up or down, I managed to break two lug studs (same wheel, next to each other). On the ride home I noticed some noise from the left rear so I pulled off the highway to check and found two...
I originally wanted a Firenze Red one... then I saw someone on Instagram with a grey one and fell in love. I’d really have done red, grey, or white but I’m very happy with what I ended up getting.
I paid $30k. Unfortunately the used car market it brutal right now and those HD pack trucks don’t...
Update: it’s the AC compressor.
Not sure if it’s failure is imminent or what. I’m going to continue to investigate but in the meantime I’m not overly concerned. AC is blowing cold and if the compressor fails I’ll replace it. I just hope it’s not something that would seize and lock the pulley...
i don’t have to lower it to pull in. It’s a close call, but no access height necessary.
I think it only gets a little louder as I walk to the rear of the truck because the engine sounds are less predominant.
although now I’m going to try to replicate it and really listen for it around the...
I’m trying to figure out the source and cause of a new and peculiar sound I noticed my 2014 LR4 making when I pulled into the garage. I’ve only had the truck for about 2 months and haven’t driven it a ton (500 miles or so, mostly highway) but this is certainly a new sound.
as with many Land...
@discofervor - pretty fresh account so not much to see but I’ll be starting to add to it as I begin my summer travels!
I’m definitely considering the spare tire mount. I don’t dislike the way the wheel looks up there and I’m 6’3” 230 lbs so getting it up there wasn’t *that* big of a deal, but...
New forum member. I’ve lurked quite a bit while researching LR4s leading up to my purchase in April. I’ve been an active member on other forums but I’m new to Land Rover and new to 4x4 vehicles. Just wanted to share the new pride and joy (and headache) with you all.
Picked up this Causeway Grey...
