    Towing with 2017 Discovery

The D5 had only 564 miles on the OD. I would think the MPG would go up a few MPG as the engine and transmission learn from the driving habits of the operator. My LR4 goes from roughly 18 MPG down to 11-12 when towing.

    Battery Life

my 2016 LR4 that is 19 months old had both batteries die. This seemed very early IMO. I would expect at least 36 months. LR replaced them for free.

    Towing with 2017 Discovery

I just used a loaner d5 and I easily towed my 22' trailer. 5 people and 2 dogs and fully loaded with water to see how it would perform. It was great I am around 8k in altitude and took it to about 10k no problem. The gas mileage dropped to about 7mpg though, which is significantly worse than my LR4.

I have had a loaner D5 for a week Ask Me Anything (LR4 owner)

It did NOT have the rear vents. This sucked. I can't imagine how much worse the heating and cooling would be with the full complement of vents. It barely functioned with the minimal vents. I built one out online to see what it may not have had. It looks like the 1k option for locking rear was...

I have had a loaner D5 for a week Ask Me Anything (LR4 owner)

I have returned the loaner. Quick Summary: The Discovery5 is 3x the luxury vehicle the LR4 is and 1/2 the Offroad machine. This would be a fantastic alternative to a minivan/Large Truck combo. I have to say it is built very well and is a great ride. Getting back into the LR4 I could feel...

I have had a loaner D5 for a week Ask Me Anything (LR4 owner)

I'm in Colorado. between us and Arizona, we have the most Sun in the USA, something around 330 days of Sun/Clear skies. Of course, Colorado has sun and snow which equals a VERY bright landscape. The Tint is a very nice quality, not something like my 15 Tundra would have. The LR tint works well...

I have had a loaner D5 for a week Ask Me Anything (LR4 owner)

The version I have is loaded. Vision package and everything. I could double check on the coils..I don't even see a place where a physical button would be to raise and lower. The tailgate, it is weird. the 30/70 split was much nicer IMO. It was a nicer sitting platform than the new little ledge.

I have had a loaner D5 for a week Ask Me Anything (LR4 owner)

I'm not finding a way to raise and lower the suspension manually. This is a vehicle for someone who doesn't want a minivan likes luxury or is a snob. It is very nice to drive. defrost works like poop. vents are not effective. We had about 4" of icy snow here, it drove VERY well. Traction...

I have had a loaner D5 for a week Ask Me Anything (LR4 owner)

IF anyone wants me to take pictures or go do something they are curious about with it I'm game! it looks like I have it for another 3 days or so days.

I have had a loaner D5 for a week Ask Me Anything (LR4 owner)

It actually stops much like the LR4 (very well). It feels very long and heavy/solid like a piece of lead. This is not a vehicle that aspires to be off-road even though it is clearly capable of it we had a nice ICE/snow storm on Thursday and it handled the skating rink atmosphere very well . It...

I have had a loaner D5 for a week Ask Me Anything (LR4 owner)

I have had a loaner D5 with 300 miles on it. Here are my initial observations: Much bigger than I thought. For that matter than it looks while moving Feels very heavy. Drives like a ford explorer (older ones) Turning radius is NOT good. I had to do a 3 point turn on a residential street...

New Brakes at 25k..Suggestions for upgrades. 2016 Lr4

I'm at 2mm all the way around already. This surprised me a bit, i thought I would get to 40 or 50k with the stock setup. But this is where I am, so... I really don't like the stock brakes and how they perform. Looking for upgrade suggestions. I would like to buy them and have a 3rd party rover...

    Plastic plug broke roof-rail installation

i used superglue on the tip of some needle nose pliers. Held them shut for about two minutes to ensure it had adhered. Then gave it a mighty pull.

    Plastic plug broke roof-rail installation

OK i got it. Method #1 worked well. Dab of superglue on the nose of pliers, wait 2 minutes...mighty heave and it popped out. I nearly fell off my ladder, but I had a baby mattress, and multiple large dog pillows over the grass behind me to cover any fall backwards.

    Plastic plug broke roof-rail installation

First I'm going to super glue my needle nose pliers (closed onto the plug) and give it a mighty heave. After that I may try and take some canned air to freeze it up and shatter it with a punch. If those fail... I will try some heat.

    Plastic plug broke roof-rail installation

I thought about heat, but was worried about the paint. I may take a punch and see if I can break it up.

    Plastic plug broke roof-rail installation

Long story short I made an attempt last winter when it was about -22 deg F and the top shattered into a million pieces leaving the stem in the hole.. Fast forward i'm installing my rack and i cannot get that friggin nub out. All of the other plugs came out without issue in warmer weather. i was...

    Intelligent Start/Stop MIA

Mine did this as well. A humidity sensor and some other related programming needed updating. I would get it fixed annoying as it is, the underlying issues may lead to other problems if not addressed.

2016 Land Rover LR4 (Discovery 4) Project Build

How did you get the front runner ladder on without a gap on the outside edge? Did you bend it? The fit on those things is terrible.

    2016 LR4 Intelligent stop/start not working

Not always true. The ECO mode on my 2016 stopped working (see my posts earlier in this thread). It was NOT the battery. The secondary battery tested as fully functional. It was a combination of a humidity sensor failure and a required software update. This particular issue does not throw any...

My 2016 lr4 ECO mode stopped working because of a humidity sensor failure, and a software update requirement. All fixed now.

    Frontrunner Roof Racks

I'll do it once it warms up and I can actually put it on the roof. The installation instructions are really bad as far as instructional documents go. I still have to cut my gutter trim. If anyone has pictures on how much they cut it would be helpful. Also it appears i'm missing a few O rings...

washer fluid - Doesn't work in the cold? Feature or Error?

I do have the cold climate pack. This is frustrating for sure. I put the truck in the garage hopefully it will thaw. I'll just run them until near empty and re-fill with fluid.

washer fluid - Doesn't work in the cold? Feature or Error?

I meant 20 deg F. I'm so used to using metric at work I spaced it. Its -10 degrees F right now. I'm assuming its frozen currently, but it doesn't work in regular (not this super cold) winter temps.

    Frontrunner Roof Racks

How did you bend the light plate part of the ladder? I thought about doing the same but was afraid I'd totally mess it up. You bent it to keep the far drivers side of the light plate from pulling away that 1/4 inch right?
