Sweet smell, coolant leak, ugh...
Took a few drive cycles but I found some leak down on the lower passenger corner of the Rad. Suspect it is corrosion/hole of some kind as it appears extremely small and I'm losing about half a cup of coolant every 300-500 miles. Ordered a rad and going to pull it this weekend. -

I'm getting the sweet smell, even after changing the crossover. Top end had no signs of coolant evaporation but I'm leaking coolant from somewhere intermittently and the reservoir looks dry on the exterior. Added dye, waiting to check tonight. Pump is only a year old and looks dry as well. -
Radiator replacement help!
Looks like I too have to replace the radiator. Developed a leak/corrsion near the base. Any specific feedback, hints on pulling and replacing it? I've done the AC evap/condensor on the LR3 and assume this will be as much of a pain. Thanks! -

That kind of blemish isn't wear. More likely from a chemical such as sunscreen, bug spray, etc. I've had sunglasses, etc show the same surface bubbling. -
LR4 Mileage Poll
I have a '12 HSE I've owned from new with 75K miles. And a '06 LR3 I bought with 150K miles that is now over 180K. Judging from how the abused LR3 is holding up and ticking over the miles, I'm pretty confidant in the LR4. -
LR 4 - Rock Through Radiator?
I don't see how a rock hits the radiator head on without taking out the condensor as well. The condensor sits in front of the radiator and is nearly the entire size of the radiator. Only location this could happen is at the bottom by the cross member perhaps. Something doesn't sound right. -

Yes, exactly right, changed it to not fitted. I'll change it to rear only and see what it does. PDC button just blinks when you put it in reverse but the tone happens before this. -

Cold weather transmission failure
It is definitely ecu/electronic management/battery low voltage at startup related, not frozen fluid or trans failure. I drive both and LR3 and Lr4, both have had interesting strange reactions to the multiple days of negative temps. Mostly suspension faults at startup or errant messages that clear. -

I had a ticking for a while and found it to be the water pump bearing was going. Replaced the pump. Can you use the screw driver method of listening to components? -

Not sure what to tell you. I wasn't willing to hack into the metal due to the support it provides around the rad. Only other option is to leave it locked and freespool using the motor. -

You can do either. I ran wires under the trim piece to the engine. But their are also trim holes top and bottom you can enlarge (one of which you have to use on the pass side if you install the factory snorkel. -

Check your uppers as well. I had the same and it was loose tie rod and upper arms were shot. Lowers were fine. -

I skimmed the thread but couldn't yet find the answer. a friend is buying a '14 with V6, any difference in caliper/rotor clearance versus the older LR4's (pre-'13)? OR does the same advice apply (compos or "18LR3 rim with spacer for any year)?
