Are there any pictures yet of a D5 with enough offroad accessories attached to make it look unique and rough?
They still just look like Ford Explorers to me, but maybe I haven't seen one with the right rack, sliders, rubber and rims.
Now that you know how to take it apart, why don't you just replace that little puller "L" with a loop of cable permanently attached and crimped in place.
After two failures on my LR3 rear hatch, I made the change and never had an issue again.
Wow, thanks for sharing that @johnnwalters
Quite a bummer to have them drop it once, and still not resolve the issue. Ugh. I guess there are more than one thing up there that can cause this, as mine was a different issue all together. (for this "rare" fuel smell issue)
It's how I know I'm driving a TRUCK!!
It also helps drown out the sound of the guy next to me in his Tesla, typing on his phone. So inconsiderate...
:D
Thanks. I'll check that page as well.
I think he's looking for a shop for any non-warranty service.
I know this is the LR4 board, but I wonder if it's still best to go to a LR specific shop for a Sport or if you can pretty much go anywhere. With the LR3/LR4, there seemed to be too much...
A friend of mine just purchased a used (like-new) Discovery Sport and was looking for a local mechanic. He lives out near Dulles. He'll be under warranty for a while but is still looking for options for non-warranty work (wear items, rack & hitch installs, etc.)
Anyone have a non-dealer...
I thought the deal was it is "flatish" on the first fold, but you can hold the button again and it goes totally flat? If you still have the vehicle, double check this. That is a key point for me. I am not a fan of flat"ish"...
The diesel. Such a long wait. Nothing special, huh? Bummer.
When I got my used LR4 it had a shiny new black donut underneath that still had the tits on it.
I also happened to have my old LR3 HSE in the driveway with a full size spare and matching rim.
Whoever is driving my old LR3 now has a brand new donut under it. :)
Wow! Would have never thought...
That's pretty cool. Thanks for the share.
The net from my LR4 is still wrapped up new in packaging... sitting on top of the one from my LR3 that was also never used! :)
You're telling me! I just went through a lengthy dealer windshield replacement process. If I knew the cowlings were so affordable I would have thrown them a new one to install with the windshield.
Thanks for sharing the pictures and video link, which I watched.
How difficult was it to remove the body clips? In the video he shows prying it up against the glass with a towel covered metal tool. I'm hesitant to do any prying against glass. I've had bad luck with that and know that due to...
Those are two excellent posts. Thanks. I too am sick of the chalky sun baked version I have now. When I have tried the back to black things in the past I found them time consuming and they don't last that long. Eventually it wears through and you start to see your brush strokes on any area...
Are these factory installed items on some models?
Don't have locking lugs on my '13. Which is a good thing. I'm bad about keeping track of keys I rarely use...
@Thomax good recap! I agree with most of that.
On headlights, I have whatever comes standard in my 2013 HSE LUX, which I think are good. BUT, they still aren't as good as the ones I had in my 2005 LR3 HSE which steered with the wheel and seemed to generally light up an even larger area. I...
Well, since you pointed that out... it turns out I can only take pictures with my right hand. So this was a staged photo! :) Sadly, yes, buttons are right next to each other, both mean "POWER ON" and when my mind is elsewhere, it happens...
Okay, that makes sense.
So in your case, the FOB is the *only* way you can access the back.
Ugh. Sorry, can't help there but I'd agree it just sounds like a mechanical issue at the button. I think your short option is a good test.
Ha! :D I bought it with 50K miles already on it, and have been meaning to replace that button. Looks like one of the easiest do it yourself jobs out there. I keep forgetting.
Although now I'm considering putting a "DON'T PANIC" sticker over it. Elon Musk style! (from "Hitchhikers Guide To...
Does it by any chance *just* unlock the glass so that once you put things in and close it, the car is again locked? Then I guess it would be useful if you were unlocking from a distance (inside the house) so that someone else could access the back.
I do like with the passive entry that I can...
Do you mean, it doesn't open on its own (it's not supposed to), of if you go an push the button on the top of the tailgate, you can't get the thing to even come down?
I think they changed things since the LR3 days. My LR3 had significant problems with the cable inside the rear tailgate...
