    Traffic Message Channel

Ahh ha! I was going to ask the same question. I don't really use the XM and thought I'd need to keep a subscription for traffic data. Free traffic data streamed to cars. Who knew! For NAV, I usually use Waze, but I'm still struggling to find a good place to mount my iPhone in the LR4 that...

    Wheel Arch paint protection?

When I jumped from the LR3 to the LR4 I initially didn't like the painted arches, but now they have grown on me and I like the look. The good thing about the old plastic arches, though, was they were great protectors of door dings/scratches in parking areas. I also used them to lean gear when...

    Sold the LR3...

LOL... the thought has crossed my mind. :hmpf: I tried playing the stereo in the LR4 with the engine off, accessory on. It doesn't play for very long before it shuts itself off, I supposed due to battery voltage monitoring. Could be the battery quality of course.

Two LR4 Questions (Windshield & USB)

Fuses? Haven't checked. Push the button for the heated windshield, and on comes the light! But it did that anyway. I'd agree that it should be hard to screw up the install, hopefully it is just a matter of the wires being connected and all is good, but I'm surprised that without a heated...

    Sold the LR3...

If I had a bigger driveway or more garage space, I would've kept it as well! It'd be nice to have for situations where you cared a little less about care, but still wanted all the functionality. Thanks. I'd agree with your assessment thus far. I hadn't thought about the steering ratio but...

    Sold the LR3...

...well, it was definitely with a bit of sadness that I drove away from my 2005 ride last night after selling it. I'd driven that thing for just about every mile between 43 and 230,000. Never left me stranded. Sure, it locked all my gear in the back a couple times when the hatch failed, and...

Two LR4 Questions (Windshield & USB)

So, how do you test a heated windshield install in summer? The button lights up after the replacement. But it did the same thing when the windshield wasn't even installed. I got some fog on my window last night, turned it on, but didn't see little clear lines appear in the fog. It was far...

Is this expensive for water pump change?

Their water pump replacement cost is consistent with what my mechanic told me. I think his casual quote was $750 for the parts/labor your quote describes. Nothing is cheap on the rover. ;)

    LR4 Keyless Entry Hacked, Stolen

I wish that whole keyless thing was an option you could easily turn off and just use a key. (other than the blade hidden in the fob which access the hidden key hole) Some people keep their keys in shielded pouches any time they are away from the car. I actually bought one for times that I...

How To remove LR3/LR4 Plastic Caps securing Roof ditch molding

I recently bought a used 2013 LR4. It came with no side rails and no cross bars. One of the first things I wanted to do was put a rack on the vehicle. I found a rack, ordered it, received it, and the first task of the installation was as follows; "Use a small flat screwdriver and remove the...

    Thoughts?

Still open to upgrade ideas. My wife has a 2013 Q5. It has a nice fine led line. For some reason LR spaced these LEDs a couple inches apart. Were they that expensive 4 years ago?

    Thoughts?

See...this picture makes is seem like there is an upgrade path... But this picture says, nope! I emailed them to ask. OP, sorry to turn your tailgate conversation into a headlight conversation. To stay on topic, I should point out that they also have a taillight upgrade option - HERE

    Thoughts?

Thanks, I sent them an email. I found something interesting, but before digging into too many details I saw a note saying it's for 2014, forward. I have a 2013.

Please start a new forum for the D5 Discovery

Agreed! I guess the trick will be the naming. Maybe create a new one called "Discover 5" If you call the new one "Discovery" then you have to rename the old one to "Discover Series I and II" or something. Good luck. Thanks for providing a great forum.

Two LR4 Questions (Windshield & USB)

Since this post I did print out the manual provided in addition to my VIN lookup from Topix. Gave it to CarMax, noted that standard equipment was not in my vehicle, and it is currently being replaced without question. That's pretty good service in my view. I think most used car dealers would...

    Thoughts?

That sounds like an expensive way of getting more LEDs. Appreciate it, I hadn't noticed that there was an upgrade to 2014+ vehicles. Good to know they don't fit stock...saved me some investigation.

    Thoughts?

I'm fine with the OEM tail lights, HOWEVER, has anyone modified the headlight LEDs on their LR4? My 2013 has well spaced LEDs as part of the integrated running lights. I guess that's what you'd call them. In 2013 bright LEDs were still an expensive novelty, I suspect. These days, cars that...

My new LR4, some vacation Photos, and a Thank You!

Thanks. I don't notice the wind noise. I did drive the truck a week or two without it. I'm sure there is a difference but nothing stuck out as obtrusive. Doesn't sound noticeably different then the LR3 I drove for 12 years with factory rack. Exception being one of the bars is right over...

Two LR4 Questions (Windshield & USB)

Hmmm, yeah, I found that of the three USB ports in the LR4, they all charge slow. (two under the center console lid and the one in the rear of the box). I suspect they are just amp limited. However, if there is a fuse somewhere and it's blown, that'd be good to know. I put a dual 2.1A unit...

About those Plastic Windshield ticket tabs...

Uses, for the curious... Around us, if you pay at parking stations (not via phone) you get a meter receipt that has to be displayed. It's great for that. Any time I'm staying at a rental and they give you a non-hang tag parking pass, it goes there. I'll occasionally drive in off-road areas...

About those Plastic Windshield ticket tabs...

Bummer. Thanks for the feedback. Well, since I still have my LR3, I'll give them a hard twist/tug and see if they are removable. I suppose it was a cost cut as it was a feature of the car that nobody in the states really noticed.

About those Plastic Windshield ticket tabs...

They were standard on my 2005. I hope they didn't get rid of them. I think most North American owners didn't know what they were for, but the need to put tickets there was more common in the UK. It ends up being a very convenient holder. Nothing ever slides down in the dash, it's visible by...

About those Plastic Windshield ticket tabs...

I have these tabs on my LR3. I have grown to like them. They're great for holding parking meter receipts and temporary permits. My LR4 doesn't have them. I suspect they were lost when someone replaced the windshield on the car prior to my ownership. Are these easy for me to remove from my...

My new LR4, some vacation Photos, and a Thank You!

Thanks. I see you have a white with the black effects. That was my other top pick when shopping. I found a couple nice ones, but the wife liked the bronze.
