    roof rack

Regarding the conversion, shouldn't be an issue. When you remove the long rails you'll just have some exposed trench area up front that is normally covered by molding (on trucks without the rails). There is no problem leaving this exposed to the elements and it looks like it will be concealed...

    How is your new D5?

Yup, same experience around here. The dealers all commented that they pretty quickly sold out of the remaining new inventory and the used market also benefitted. Probably don't have to comment on that ridiculous post above, but I will anyway... Maybe she represents the new market LR is trying...

    Windshield

Ugh. My rain sensor does not work. I have an aftermarket windshield as well. My mechanic thought it may be the rain sensor, which is a good idea to replace with the windshield. I know it isn't the technology because the sensor in my LR3 was flawless. Is there any documented evidence that...

Keeping Audio on without Engine running

Wow! I have lived with this annoyance for 12 years (my LR3 did the same thing) and I never knew there was such an easy hack for it! I figured the car was monitoring battery voltage and when the voltage dropped, it'd shut off. The theory at the time was fed by talk of the large amount of power...

    LR5 Release Updates?

You found the other LR4 thread already where it was mentioned. Prospeed was one of the ones I had found which is linked there.

This LR4 Drives Great in the SAND!

Great pics and tips, @nymoto ! That hammock is on the wish list. Probably the windscreen version of your tarp also (hoping the mesh grabs less wind). Nice truck pics. But I still prefer our rigs pictured on sand. ;)

Front Runner Roof Rack on OEM Rails

If you use the factory cross bars on OEM side rails, I think there are 4 positions where you can put the crossbars. Whatever the number, the long side rails give you one more position. That's it. But, that does let you get a wider spread from front to back which is more stable for long...

Rear locker comes on more often than I thought

I always drive in Sport mode. I like the responsiveness better when pulling out and just general driving. Anytime it feels sluggish I look and realize I haven't moved the shifter over! Now I'm even more glad I got the 2013! They gave me a Discover Sport loaner with a knob and I haaaaaated...

    How is your new D5?

Thanks for the details, @Hawkigrad . Sounds like a fun trip and good test of the tech on the new ride. 9mpg. Oy. I guess that's why people like diesel for towing. Didn't even think of the hatchback being blocked when you have a trailer hooked up. That would be inconvenient to say the least...

Roof Access - What is your preference

Do you guys have to climb up onto your expedition racks? For my needs, what I can't reaching by standing on the rear tire, I can reach by standing on the tailgate (with the glass closed). I know we all use them for different things, though, and if you are hauling crates up there it may be a...

Traded the single speed for an HD pkg

That's awesome. Congrats and thanks for sharing the report. Nice work finding an HD package. When I was looking, they were hard to come by. That's not a bad idea, actually... to just keep some searches out there in case one pop's up. I eventually heard enough of you saying, the single speed...

I do as well... and the BT auto play on connect feature drives me f-n nuts!

    LR5 Release Updates?

I did see those while looking for racks, and thought that was a nice option. I wouldn't want to get rid of the sunroof in any case, at a minimum, it's nice for venting. My point was the moonroof. There should be an option to order without that when you're going to be putting a tray up there...

    How is your new D5?

I missed that when looking closely at the D5. All I saw was that stupid auto retracting dong looking ball available in the UK. What is different about the D5 hitch design that gets rid of the tongue weight limitations on the LR3/LR4? Very cool. They must have gotten a kick out of you wheeling...

    Axle CV Joint Failure

@DonMitsu - what was the recovery like? How the heck did you get off the trail?

    Android integrated with factory screen

Thanks. I forgot or missed that point. The mirroring is just a bonus (and IMO not worth the trouble) but the integrated android system is what gives you tablet functionality. @BrandonM7 - the way I read it, it just just switches between the display and maybe the audio. There was some talk...

    Android integrated with factory screen

You're not kidding. It's awful. You have 7 days to install it when they will take it back. So you have to be ready to hit the ground running as soon as you get it. After 7 days they don't take it back. And after a month, they don't take it back even if you didn't install it. Big restocking...

My '13 let's me start without the key fob and drive far away...

Try this some time, just to see if it's a "feature" I'm not aware of. Unlock your LR4 by pushing the button on the key fob. Then leave your keys outside your car. Start it up and go for a drive.... Be curious to see if everyone can do that. Unfortunately, I can.o_O

Still like the look of your wheels/tires @iSurfvilano . I see those tires in my future, even though my mechanic hates GYs. :)

Does the navigation suck or is it just me?

Someone did this a while back on an LR3. I think in his case, he didn't have the NAV screen so it meant less to tear out, but you get the idea... iPad mini in an LR3

    Fog Light replacement bulb options?

Thanks for the feedback guys. Appreciate it. So, yes, I wanted to update the bulbs for aesthetics, and I also found the bulbs currently in there are not very bright. They don't add much to the road compared to my last vehicle. Regarding yellow... well, if the white ones reflect back and...

    Fog Light replacement bulb options?

Crap. Now you've thrown me for a loop. I like the look of all the lights being white... but from a functionality perspective, yeah, when I'm driving in a blizzard, hard rain or fog... that's when I need them. Yellow, huh? Wow. That's a great tip. Thanks!

    Fog Light replacement bulb options?

Thanks! Do you by chance know if those (H11) are the right size for our fogs? Also, ad states they are dimmer than OEM bulbs, but maybe they mean headlights. Should be plenty bright for fogs. Im fine with the halogens, but know that the LED lights have come a long way in the past few years...

    Fog Light replacement bulb options?

My headlights are white. As are the LED running lights. The fog lights are yellow.... they just don't match. (on a '13 HSE LUX) I wanted to replace the fog light bulbs with a comparable white light. Maybe brighter than current bulbs but without bothering oncoming drivers. Any suggestions...

    Android integrated with factory screen

Wow. If that thing works with iOS, that would be awesome. Has anyone other than the OP installed this thing? I'd hate to go through all the effort and expense to wind up with a fickle unit.
