Thanks all. I'll probably end up with the ARB Summit Bar. I really like the look of the front-end and those Warn-style bumpers retain a lot of the OEM look while providing a little protection. Given it'll probably cost me as much as Summit Bar to get one fab'd up, I'll probably end up going down...
I've also had that same error code appearing randomly. FWIW, I did get the software update from Land Rover and it went away for a couple of weeks and then randomly returned again. It's since disappeared, but the fix doesn't appear to be conclusive - I definitely wouldn't be paying for it.
I recently discovered the XLifter and it doesn’t seem to have a lot of popularity over here so I thought I’d write about my experience.
The XLifter is a device that allows the height of the air suspension (EAS) system to be adjusted. It’s similar in operation to the Australian LLAMS unit that’s...
I'm going to have to tackle this soon. I've tried (unsuccessfully) to access the is the spare grommet next to the master cylinder, but it's a nightmare to get to (especially in the 2014+).
How did you reuse the existing grommet for the main loom? From what I recall by looking at it, it looked...
Some advice from someone who's currently dealing with a sheared off bolt in the roof of their LR4:
The Front Runner rack attaches via four M6 threaded mounting points on each side. From the factory, these are plugged with those black plastic "fir tree" plugs mentioned above. When I removed mine...
I recently ordered the Voyager swing arm - will let you know what the quality is like when it arrives. I intend to hang a Compomotive/KO2, RotoPax and Trasharoo off it.
I did the same. I bought a replacement A-pillar trim cover off eBay for about $80 to modify and put a hole in the top for the wiring to come out nicely. It came with new clips too.
Chiming in here; I went to my local Land Rover dealer (Lynnwood), and they wanted over $2k for front and rear brakes including labour. I was surprised to find that they always replace the discs at the same time as the pads - there's no consideration for machining discs that are in spec. Is this...
Would love to hear more about the digital dash. Did you do the programming yourself?
These guys claim to do a CarPlay solution for the LR4, but I've never seen any videos/reviews of anybody actually using it: http://www.naviplus.com.au/landrover-lr3-mirrorlink--airplay-upgra
Looks good!
The 2014+ also has the rear radar sensors located underneath the taillights that would need to be accommodated somehow. I could see a steel bumper with plastic inserts at those places, but there's no way you'd be able to get a functional swing arm then.
These guys seem to provide a very generic CarPlay integration solution. It doesn't look like it uses the factory touch element of the screen - you have a separate physical controller. It also connects via standard RCA plugs, which means you're not going to be utilizing the full resolution of the...
I've got a Garmin Dashcam 45 behind the mirror. It's tiny - you can't even see it from the driver's seat. I bought a 12V -> USB micro adaptor off Amazon, and spliced it into the power that goes to the moisture sensor located on the windshield. It's completely integrated and looks OEM.
Has anyone disassembled the rearview mirror housing? I'm wanting to get a permanent source of power from there for a dash cam. Wondering if there are any tricks to opening it - I'm assuming the housing is held together with clips.
