Pretty big thread on that here: https://www.landroverworld.org/threads/advice-on-peeling-dash.30447/
TL;DR: The OP ended up replacing his dash by hand.
Yeah - I live in Chicagoland and we dump salt all winter long. My boards are showing the effects and have rust/corrosion from winter use. I'll be replacing them at some point with step/slider combos that aren't as sensitive to salt.
The big things would be:
2010-2012 - make sure that crossover pipe and timing guides have been done
2013 - it's magically delicious and the last year for the V8
2014-2016 - V6 (really the V8 with 2 deleted cylinders). The killed the locking rear diff without getting the HD pack and those are...
Write this up and file a complaint with your state attorney general. (Assuming you’re in the US)
I had issues with warranty work on a F150 and filed one. The state went after them and boy were they (Ford) quick to suddenly make my issue go away. It didn’t stop me from trading in the truck for...
I wouldn't recommend a mickey mouse fix unless you're 100% destined to head to the full $12k replacement. As Quijote mentioned there's a lot of cross contamination issues and I don't think you'd want gasket sealant leaking into the oil system and doubling down on the existing damage. Get a...
2013 LR4 - 41k now.
I bought this lovely beast with 24k miles on it and the brakes were a little chirpy then. It's been getting a little be more pronounced as of late and even chirps at highway speeds. There's no feeling of warped rotors or drop in response for stopping but the...
Just more FYI. Google maps can go offline if you plan ahead. There are other offline map options too for mobile if you ante up. I’m a fan I cheaper more up to date mobile options than a static slow built in solution.
I’d have a hard time believing that swapping a motor vs a head gasket would be cheaper. How many miles and what’s the source of the overheat? Crossover pipe fail?
Something else I've considered (since I've gone back to Apple land) would be to put an iPad mini on the dash (more or less mounted permanently) and then let the data sharing from the phone provide the internet needed for Waze/other apps (music, etc). Use it as bluetooth audio streamer too...
Is it necessary? No. Are most missing it? Yes. Does it actually help keep the crud out of the receiver hole so I don't have to scrub it out/lube it to get the hitch receiver in? Yes.
Do I feel like my LR4 would be incomplete without one? Sort of. o_O
Here’s the perfect example of what’s going to happen to 90% of glam drivers with external mounted spares. Hmmm...OEM tire outside, clearly never rotated, doesn’t match tires on ride. Might as well put a donut there.
I'm not against the dash either. I understand there are those that like the shifter in hand as a way to rest the arm. I used to be in that camp but since I bought the LR4 I've been using the flip down arm rest much more often than the center arm console. The command style seating (probably...
yeah guys...let's not beat up each other for doing the tl;dr move. These threads can drone on forever and a simple clarity of 6 or 8 speed around the world helps...I didn't know if the 8 was offered before 2014 and that info on the diesel is new to me. Take a breath and accept that nobody...
