    Bubbarope Kinetic Recovery Rope

They have a good reputation, but are certainly pricey. I use ARB, which is a tad cheaper and is a traditional style kinetic strap. https://www.amazon.com/ARB-ARB705-2-3-Recovery-Strap/dp/B004P9DQLC

My Fuji White 2012 became a Kaikoura Stone 2016

If it's pure reliability you are after, just slap an old diesel in and call it a day. The upside of all these forced induction engines is gobs of torque right off the start of the revs. I will give it that. I am curious what engines come next in the LR lineup, particularly the Defender...

My Fuji White 2012 became a Kaikoura Stone 2016

Your EAS has a far higher chance of breaking than a turbo. This isn't the 80s. The tech has come leaps and bounds. I have owned 4 BMWs over the last few years and none have been an issue, nor any forum posts about such. Ignoring the tech because of the perception of some turbo gremlins are going...

My Fuji White 2012 became a Kaikoura Stone 2016

A turbo's exhaust pressue is typically far more powerful than a belt driven system. The turbo system uses a wastegate to vent the extra pressure to keep a preset boost pressure from the turbo. This is completely variable on the fly adjustments to hit the desired boost pressure.. and of course to...

    GapIID BT compatibility

I bought the BT version, and I think I used it via BT once to show off to a friend that I could raise / lower the truck from my phone. It's always been far quicker to just run through the EAS presets via the steering wheel control method vs messing around with the BT connection.

    How much trimming?

There's a lot of threads very recently discussing this. You should read through those first. It's been asked and answered dozens of times. Long story short, your current rubbing issue is going to be the frame horns. Any tire larger than 31.5" diameter will absolutely need these trimmed to stop...

    LR4 Back up sensor sound

Pretty sure this is correct. When it is active and beeping, turn it up or down via the stereo volume knob.

    My Disco 4. Done right!

Yea, 12.5" width is something crazy like a 315 or 325 tire. We are all running 265 or 285 on Compos.

Johnson Rods problem - Red Suspension Fault

Backing up what JWest is saying, the rods site claims you "need" them for 265/65/18, which is complete crap. (Those are roughly 31.5") Lots of people, myself included, run these bone stock without issue. I also use an IID Tool and use it to raise the EAS only when necessary off-road. My...

    LR5 Release Updates?

You can still buy a new Defender in parts of the world. I can go get one locally today, in fact. But yes, they stopped production last year. The new ones for sale, simply are late to market and have not been used. http://qatarsale.com/mycar_e.aspx?carid=145799

    coolant leaking in LR4

My pump went (under the TSB) this year and I had a low coolant warning, but never went overtemp. It was a slow leak. You could smell coolant when you opened the hood, but I never saw drips on my driveway. LR mechanic said he could spot the residue around the pump. Someone else might have better...

My Fuji White 2012 became a Kaikoura Stone 2016

Crash safety thing is stupid anyway. Feel free to remove them. It was just following some NHTSA rules that went into effect for ALL vehicles for that year forward. It doesn't magically make all the 2004 - 2009 LR3s and 2009-2013 LR4s rolling death traps. It's a beautiful looking truck and I...

Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

Just for all the newcomers' info: 265/65/18 is 31.6" diameter / 10.4" width 285/60/18 is 31.5" diameter / 11.2" width As you can see, both are near identical to and what is considered max diameter for these trucks without mods. Anything beyond 31.5" diameter and you really start running into...

    '13 to '14 Headlights

To my understanding, wiring is different too. The 2014+ have the always on accents in the headlights, where the pre-2013 has the LED dots that only come on when the lights are switched on.

    LR5 Release Updates?

Yea, as someone who has owned both 285/60 and 265/65, the same issue is always the frame horns directly behind the wheels. When the tires are new, you might get very slight rubbing at full lock (especially in reverse for some reason). This is a diameter issue though, not a width issue. If you...

Hold my beer...LR4 gets stuck, goes viral

It's just desert / beach driving 101. You need to be very selecting where you choose to stop. Getting the big lump of an LR4 moving again can be tricky. Never stop on inclines or deep soft / wet sand. User error to the highest degree in this case.

    Suspension Fault - C1A36-01

^^ This is a good point ^^ The old Hitachi compressors were enough of a nuisance that LR ditched them for the newer AMK ones. You might try your luck in a junkyard for a wrecked newer LR4 and grab a cheap compressor out of it.

    AC control knobs getting sticky.

Well, I haven't experienced this issue yet. My truck is about 4.5 years old, but we have 100F+ temps for about 8 months of the year and peak in the summer of 120-125F. My knobs look fine. (I work in the Middle East in Qatar)

    Bad Camshaft Solenoid?

I'd clear codes after the MAP sensor replacement and wait and see if anything else comes up. I have never heard of this camshaft solenoid issue on our trucks.

    Engine air filter

I change mine every year. Environment is all the difference. I live in the desert and we get dust storms throughout the summer. Small price for fresh clean air for the engine.

Drove the new Discovery and I'm totally confused now.

X5 was completely redesigned and released as a 2014 model. There will be a mid-life cycle "facelift" coming soon, but it's usually minor cosmetics. BMW has a ~7 year life cycle on their X5 / X6 vehicles. A "new" one won't be due until 2020.
