Per my good friend Nathan (he buys and sells Rovers for a living) the LR4 is one of the Best rovers made so far. The Supercharged V8 is a different animal, this can have timing chain issues and be very expensive.- joey

Welcome to the forum. Like any Newer Euro vehicle you can have engine failures. Land rover/merc/bmw/audi pick a brand and they all have horror stories. If you maintain them, don't over heat them, they will last a long time.- joey

Headlight issues
Sounds more like a ground issue. Normally if a bulb or ballast it will not be intermittent. If a ground issue it can and will reduce the life of the system.- joey

JOHNSON RODS - Anyone migrate your JR's from LR4 to RRS?
Should be the same. I know I sell lift sets for LR3/LR4/RRS and they work for all 3. So not sure why theirs doesn't work.- joey

RAMDOM STOPPING OF ENGINE
Sadly sounds like a corrosion issue in the ECM or Body Control unit. I am betting either the sunroof has leaked or the drains have backed up causing water to get into the control units. If I recall correctly on the RR they are in the back on one of the sides and get wet you will have lots of...- joey

At the risk of getting flamed for asking.. An Oil question.
I almost hate to say this, but I generally just use Synthetic oil Mobil One in the weight the vehicle needs. Some people say oil is oil, just change it often.- joey

Welcome to the forum. The LR4 is capable of both without making changes. Just remember if you go off the main road into the back woods, always have another vehicle with you and tow strap and basic first aid/water/food just in case. 99% of the time you will never need anything. But like...- joey
