    LR3 Rear Window Support Arms

Yeah, I got it the second time around. I was thinking the origional poster was describing the B pillar area initially, but then realized he meant the rear lift-gate. Good diagram! Certainly a well documented issue, as this 14 page thread demonstrates...

    Sliders opt 2 slims

Clarifcation: My first set of sliders were the prototypes, and they mounted a bit differently. They actually attached to the frame. At those locations, I used the neoprene disks. With my new Option 1 sliders, I didn't do anything, and had no noise issues. Its not directly comparable though...

Got bad news, tell me it's not so!

There is ONE guy who did it. He completely disassembled his LR3 (Disco3), removed the entire wiring harness. Then he did the same thing to a D3 that had caught fire in a crash and been junked. He patched and repaired the burnt harness, then reassembled his original car with the new harness...

Why isn't your buddy cleaning it for you?

    Sliders opt 2 slims

LOL, they are intended to be scratched! if you don't, you aren't using them properly :-) I put small neoprene disks as washers between the frame and the skid plate where they overlap.

Sport Mode causes rear end thunk at low speeds?

That is the waterfall light, and I love it. It's always on once on the dash mounted sensor detects low ambient lighting. On dark nights (away from parking lots and stuff), you will note the gentle illumination across the center console where the terrain control knob and so forth resides. You...

    Frustrated Past Believe

Its the dealer. The thigns you have been mentioned have been discussed on all the forums countless times, often with TSB numbers associated with them. Take the ball and run with it. Do your homework, get the TSB numbers, print out the threads, bring it to the dealer and educate them. Pain...

    Fuel Tank Skid

yes, doing the tank yourself is probably not too hard for you if you've already done the skids and so forth yourself. You'll want a floor jack and a third hand though. In my case, I drove for about a month with my worst deformation (no photo), until one day it just died on the freeway. That...

    Fuel Tank Skid

x2. Sean, that's a pretty good deformation right there. Sorry to say it, but I think you are looking at a pricey fix. Tanks cost around 1BTU (1 basic toy unit = $1,000)

    Check engine light

Good question, to which I don't know the answer. I have not heard of anyone having to get their LR3 smogged yet. Smog tests are required in California also, but it must not apply to 2005 and newer cars...yet?

    Fuel Tank Skid

That's new information, and I'm VERY glad to hear of it! If they say it will work, then I don't doubt it. The RS slider config has not changed underneath since production began 2 years ago. I *think* there are two pick-up points and one fuel pump location, and the float (or sender) is...not...

    Another tire question...

Cooper Zeon LTZ's. Good wear, quite, comfortable, stick like glue, quiet, excellent wet road performance, excellent off road traction. Deep mud: unknown, Snow: unknown.

    Check engine light

Mike, I wish you knew the LR3 better. You are a fountain of valuable info on Disco's, but the LR3 is so totally different. You cannot read the codes at an auto parts store. The IDS system is not ODBII compliant. You need to go to a dealer or independent service shop that has the VERY...

    Fuel Tank Skid

Mike is half right. The skid plate holds the tank in place, nothing else supports it. However, it's a rigid polyethylene based material, and VERY difficult to pop back out. The vulnerability of the LR3 design is this tank, and it's dammed non-serviceable fuel pump that is located in the...

    John Bull Trail Run 10/10

Nice write up Sean. I have had a fault like what you described (fuel smell, sputtering, non-starting, etc...). It happens at elevation, and it's inexplicable, and its not something the dealers can ever replicate, because they are at sea level. I have "fixed" it on the trail be leaving the...

    John Bull Trail Run 10/10

I don't know who your usual team is. You will want one other vehcile with you, whose driver is capable and level headed. What tires are you running? Do you have a winch? Do you have recovery straps and shackles? You might need them on JB. Gold Mtn is a pleasant trail that is interesting...

    John Bull Trail Run 10/10

Sean, ever done 2N17X? That's what Trynian is referring to. It's a continuation of Cleghorn, on the east side of Silverwood Lake. Its very similar to Cleghorn, but shorter and steeper. Heads up towards Pilot Rock, Willow Springs area. Photos (only a few)...

    John Bull Trail Run 10/10

Hey that's great to hear. You can still join, you just have to use a check (remember those?), until they fix their SSL certificate issues on the site. I just finished the trip sheet. Here is a link for the 11/1 run to History Eastern San Bernardino Mtns...

    John Bull Trail Run 10/10

Don't worry, there will be plenty of people up there, JB is a busy trail, and for good reason, it's a blast! However, you will have to convience people you belong on that trail. I KNOW you do, but the Yota and Jeeper guys will be shocked to see your shiny mall crawler walk through those rocks...
