Help Replacing Engine Air Filter on 06 LR3 SE V8

There are half a dozen screws holding the cover on, but yes, it's right behind the passenger headlamp on the left hand drive models

    Noob requesting advice

No matter what tires you get, be sure to get the alignment done also. You will need the dealer for this. Search for Tires and Alignment (both, separately) on my website for more info and reccomendations: www.nextstepdesigns.com I maintain a lot of LR3 related info on that site.

Proud owner of a 2006 LR3 V6 SE (new to me!)

As I said, rumors vary. Gerry at OC Rover says Jag, and I think he went to the UK to be trained on it before he went Indy. I Know the Ford Ranger v6 has parts that don't fit because I tried :-)

The V6 is almost completly maintainence free. It's sourced from Jaguar, but rumors vary. I know the Jag guys use it in race platforms.

    Grrr... shredded sidewall

To back up my comment about airing down, even BFG's website talks about it: http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/overview/mud-terrain-t-a-km2/3930.html "Feature: Linear flex zones allow the tire to conform and grab obstacles in aired-down driving Benefit: Overcome nearly any obstacle" And...

    Grrr... shredded sidewall

??? The Red Bull story was just something that I thought was funny, and provided relevance to how unlikely, and how unusual a situation would have to be to break a wheel. As for airing down on the trail, its just truth, not mockery. You've seen my posts on here from day one. Have I ever been...

From what I understand, RastaUSA is shut down, but international sales are still going.

OE rear locker: Why can't you add it?

Hello fellow large person! Let me know if you want a set of seat rail extenders. I installed them on both front seats (my wife is 6'-1"), and it made a big improvement in interior comfort for me http://blog.nextstepdesigns.com/?p=13

    Grrr... shredded sidewall

Ah, well there is your problem I'll bet. With your tires running so stiff, there is no way for them to conform around the rock to avoid puncture. And No, you will not break a wheel! LOL, you have be moving pretty fast to whack a rock that hard. I've seen it done though. The wheel was bent...

OE rear locker: Why can't you add it?

I have some acquaintances with ARB USA and they said that other than the bumper, snorkel and coil springs (for the springer LR3 like mine), they have no other platform specific products planned or in development. To be honest, with the world's best traction control system, the rear locker...

    how deep can you go...?

THe key is keeping water away from the air intake on the right side of the vehicle. If you go at a nice slow deliberate speed, you will form a bow wave in front of the vehicle, that helps keep water low as it goes past the front wheel, thus, clear of the intake. Seach Google for videos of...

OE rear locker: Why can't you add it?

Mike, all LR3's come with a locking center differential in the transfer case. The only available locker option is a variable e-locker in the rear. You cannot upgrade the unit without completely rewiring the vehicle, replacing the transmission control unit, engine control unit, terrain...

    Broke my first part... replacement?

I ground mine down on rocks until they were just silly, then removed them. Since I never put a full size spare under the vehicle, I really didn't need the heat shield.

    Grrr... shredded sidewall

My coopers lasted well over 40k miles also. Curious, what pressure did you run on Top of the World? I broke a bead on a rock (literally broke it, not just pushed off the rim) on my Nitto's, but never had any problems with my Coopers, despite frequent torture off road. The BFG AT's are going...

Sort of an odd first post. Obviously a repost from elsewhere. Congrats on your LR3, I hope you use it off road as well as on. Welcome to the most versatile vehicle ever made. I think you are really going to start to like that rear lift gate design. Its brilliantly functional. The dip into...

    Door Gaskets and RS Sliders

Normal. That mud wiper on the bottom of the door is not really a gasket. There is another, real gasket under the door that seals up against the slider and forms your water tight perimeter.

High Country Off Road Fuel Tank Skid

I don't think that's what I'm seeing. I looks like the passenger side of the tank skid and how it laps over the RS sliders with a bent angle edge. No need for the bent edge that I can see.

Not liking that third image (on your blog) much. That should be a smooth lap, not an angle:

Someone explain how to use a recovery strap please.

From some reason, the Discovery model did not have factory recovery points in the front, and only the trailer hitch in the rear.

Someone explain how to use a recovery strap please.

Mike, you know how much I appreciate your advice and participation on these forums, but when you stray from general tech, you are often incorrect, specifically with the LR3. The front and rear RECOVERY points are specifically made and designed by LR for that given task.
