Try To Keep The Abuse to a Minimum . . .

Agreed! Check out this video. This is a dealer "Wheels Event" hosted up north in Hollister Hills. This video was made by the guy who bought my springer. He liked it so much, he bought another LR3 for his wife! This is their first time off roading together, took the whole family...

    Moab Trail Ratings

If you have the means, I HIGHLY reccommend hiring Dan Mick as a guide for Moab. A few years ago he was given a restored DII by a greatful Land Rover Club, that's how good he is. His rates are reasonable, and he will tailor your trip to your comfort level. If you are going with a small group...

That's not quite correct. I was slightly higher than stock off road mode with my spring lift. But more importantly, those photos are of an normal HSE with air suspension and stock bumpers. But you are all overlooking the important part of my post, "...but its so much fun, you really won’t...

    Replacement body molding trim clips

I got a bag of them (maybe 25 or so?) from my dealer for about $30. I thought it was a rip off then, and I still do, but not as bad as your dealer. We're still talking about clips, right? LOL

    Halogen to Xenon headlight swap

Lansdowne, you assume correctly, at least with the kit I installed a few years ago. The large low beam lamp cap is left off after the conversion. I "resealed" my headlamps with duct tape around the new harness after the conversion. The new harness plugs right into the existing, but there...

Jacking the LR3 with RS Sliders

Nield, Horum is using the Rover Specialties sliders. There are no limitations on where to jack and what they will support. They can, and will, support the entire weight of the vehicle along virtually every point. Having said that, I also used a short chunk of 2x4 with my rolling floor jack...

Calico Ghost Town - Doran Loop trail

IFS is a disadvantage when off roading because it limits articulation, but the traction control on the LR3 adequately makes up for it, and in some cases, even surpasses a flexy solid axel'd rig. The only thing stopping LR3's from conquering more brute trails is limited ground clearance, and...

That was a fun day! I've run the trail a few times since then. It just keeps getting harder. That waterfall is now even steeper. Just before the waterfall: The waterfall:

The black ovals denote a "Special Vehicle" and are only officially bestowed by Land Rover. My stormtrooper had them, from LRNA.

    Rasta 4x4 internal winch

They work good not too hard to install, and they look terrific. However, it is more challenging to respool the cable after deployment due to limited visibilty of the spool. The quality of your wrap on the drum greatly effects the holding power, pulling power, and overall durablity of the...

    Anyone using non-LR driving lights?

The LightForce units are pretty nice, as are IPF or Hella Compact's. However, if you already have factory HID's, any light you add is hardly going to be noticed!

    Moab Trail Ratings

If they closed offroading, it certainly would kill the town. It's pretty much a seasonally open village as it is. If you removed 99% of the tourism draw, it would die a quick ugly death. No way the Utah gov'mt will bow to the east coast senators trying to make that land grab.

    Moab Trail Ratings

Just remember that the trail ratings do not take into account the LR3's abilities. The LR3 completely invalidates the traditional trail rating system. I have written about this extensively in the past. Update: Here is one thread on this topic: http://www.lrrforums.com/showthread.php?t=8574...
