The size of the lugs vary per type of tire, so the actual dimensions often differ from brand to brand, depsite the stated size. The differences can be over 1/2" in diameter! -

Yes, 285/60/18 Cooper Zeon's will fit under, if aired down partially (down to about 10-15psi). most people are NOT buying rear bumper tire carriers, but would if money were no object, as it is a far superior solution. -

My thoughts: You can fit a 31.5' tire (285/60/18) tire such as the Nitto or Cooper in the spare tire cargo area. If you remove the heat shields it fits pretty well, but if you keep the heat shields, you will need to air it down pretty far, hoist it up, then add air to it. You can experiment... -

No! Don't use Paint. It only reduces image size, it does not reduce file size. Just use Flickr, Picass, Pbase, shutterfly, or even Kodak EasyShare. Or Spend a bit and use SmugMug, which is a completely awesome service. Picasa is actually quite good, and free. It does a lot of image... -

I highly recommend going out with LRCSD or SCLR to those areas. I am helping LRCSD do a run to Red Rock State Park at the end of April, and SCLR is heading to Anza very soon (like, this weekend maybe?). Another great desert flower trail is Mojave Trail. I have never been at peak season...
