Late Notice Opportunity - Dipped in Green Training event this Sunday - 5/16/2010

No, I considered GM, but it's too short and the fun parts are few in number and not well laid out for training (route finding, angles, recovery, etc..), plus there's often too much traffic on it. The location(s) will remain undisclosed for the time being (unless you intend to sign up). This is...

Late Notice Opportunity - Dipped in Green Training event this Sunday - 5/16/2010

OffRoving.com is phasing out it's Dipped in Green training program. We are conducting one of our last sessions this Sunday. We have one slot available due to rescheduling. We will be conducting the training in Southern California, in the Eastern Big Bear area of the San Bernadino Mountains...

How do you outfit the LR3 for family vacations (gear hauling)

They are a quasi-eurospec Base Model 5 seater configuration. My truck was a pre-production NAS market tester. Not sure if these seats are common overseas, but I haven't seen any others like it in the US. You can a lot more on my website at...

I personally think this is just too darn clever! Photo of the real thing that I saw at Overland Expo

Here's another cool space saving idea. Holds 14 gallons of water, tucks in behind the seats

How do you outfit the LR3 for family vacations (gear hauling)

Since we no longer have the LR3, and the Jeep is MUCH smaller for gear storage, I just got this:

How do you outfit the LR3 for family vacations (gear hauling)

Labs are big. Definitely going to complicate the issue. The kids and toys/gear/stuff take the middle seats, lab might take one half of the rear row of seats (if you have a 7 seater). I only had the wife and two kids, but I was able to pack a lot of gear into the rig, Tetris style, and made...

Potential group buy - gauging interest: Headlight protction film / Roof glass film

I had the film on my headlights. All I can say is that they never turned brown, and I never cracked a headlight :-)

    Roof glass.....damn.

I've seen a few crack (three). It's pretty expensive if not covered by insurance. As always, dealer experiences vary significantly. Here's to hoping!

Thinking of Buying a Land Rover

This is incorrect information. It is not the Ranger/Explorer V6. This engine is a Jaguar derived powerplant, and it has proven to be a VERY solid engine. Actually, the V6 does very well. I have a lot of seat time in both platforms. After driving a V8 for 8,000+ miles, I jumped back into...

Thinking of Buying a Land Rover

The V6 is VERY good. It will go the distance. However, I think that price is a bit high for those miles. I would offer $17k, and keep looking elsewhere after you hit $19k. Things you are going to want looked at include suspension bushings, battery, alternator, transmission seals, CD player...

Best alternative to the LR IPod connectivity kit

Well, I actually got mine through a local Car Audio shop. I think there is more than one solution out there, of a similar nature. For my other vehicles, I bought the USA Spec device from Crutchfield. About $150, and easy to install yourself, though I did have to solder a wire for power on my...

Best alternative to the LR IPod connectivity kit

I used a connector from this company: http://www.usaspec.com/ Plugs into the back of the headunit, charges and plays simultaneously...although it did not charge my 3GS iPhone, only the 1st gen. They might have updated the cable by now....?

    Roof Rack for camping gear

Search this forum for my name and related terms. I posted it a awhile ago but don't remember it now (nwoods, Thule, Hannibal) I don't think the OEM bars have much weight capacity?

    The family dilemma...

Nice Porsche, but what makes you think the Jeep is cheaper? That certainly has not been my experience, nor the experience of anyone else I know in the Jeep community.

    CB Radio

The cobra 75WX ST is a good unit, and easily mounts under the passenger seat and allows quick access to the handset with no visual intrusion into the rarefied atmosphere of the LR3's cabin environment. But yeah, HAM is the way to go, as long as others in your group also go HAM as well. Did a...

The obligatory "Show off your LR3' thread

Guys, relax. Not too long ago we were a lamenting the lack of options available. We need to welcome those who are servicing our hobby, and perhaps gently guide them in with feedback on how their approach might jangle the nerves some.

    The family dilemma...

Hmmm….I had my comments all thought out until I saw this last comment of yours. If you are just doing mild stuff in the LR3, there is no reason not to have it as a daily driver and family excursion vehicle. Get Cooper Zeon's or GY Duratrac tires and some under armor and a cargo barrier inside...
