LT 285/65/18 Cooper Discoverer STT pro all terrain

@zelatore the LR3 is arguably the most capable stock Land Rover ever. While it's less modifiable and hence can't be made to do super hardcore trails, I think saying it's best at fire roads is a bit silly. Of course it is, they are the easiest....but it can also do a black diamond rated technical...

LT 285/65/18 Cooper Discoverer STT pro all terrain

What about the frame horn in the front? mine is an '05 and the horn is a non-issue. I still think ball joint can be tricky, too. If I had to run one set of tires I'd make a different choice. I switch between those and my Nokians.

LT 285/65/18 Cooper Discoverer STT pro all terrain

The 32.6 is based off of Cooper's specs. I haven't measured or anything. They are louder than my MT/Rs and that's really the only basis of comparison I have. I think it's to be expected if you're buying a tire with open tread.

LT 285/65/18 Cooper Discoverer STT pro all terrain

You sure about that size? I run those tires in a 275/65R18....not 285. Maybe check that. Anyway mine are 32.6. if your 285 Is not a typo you're gonna rub for sure. Also....my Coops are LOUD. Oh....and it's DiscoverER Pro not DiscoverY.

Dented hood with elbow by accident.

I have a PDR (Paintless Dent Repair) guy in my area that is a Wizard. He has gotten out 5 dents and they are ERADICATED. It's cheap and quick....I've seen him use glue tabs but the preferred method is from behind the deflection. You might think access is difficult but a PDR person might have a...

the true costs of running lift rods

I think rods DO help off-road inasmuch as they allow you to fit larger tires; however, they will add wear to the joints doing so full-time. A better solution is using an IIDTool (or equivalent) which allow for adjusting the air suspension at will.

    Another Defender hint?

That is correct....the Defender was always a pure off-roader though and I think they should stick to that. It's not supposed to be a Discovery.

    Another Defender hint?

It's like an even boxier LR3/4. Short wheel base and ability to take the top off and we may be in business!!!

Made the move from LRII to LRIII

No need to apologize, realize though that the problem is not with the vehicle. You refusing to fix things properly only exacerbates your problems. Naming your vehicle Buttercup is not appropriate, the LR3 is plenty rugged and is the most capable Rover ever (outside of the defender MAYBE) but the...

Made the move from LRII to LRIII

Yes....keep posting. It will be entertaining. I think we are just trying to level you out. The LR3 is not a Toyota and the IIDTool is not a generic OBDII code reader. Also, the tail light bulbs don't need to be OEM....they just can't be shit, and care has to be taken that they are installed...

Made the move from LRII to LRIII

It's the park distance assistance function. Dude...you just seem like someone that doesn't want to do things the right way. You've been given good advice. If you choose to ignore it then you reap what you sow. I do hope you take heed and buy an IIDTool and use genuine parts and fix things as...

Made the move from LRII to LRIII

Well....I'd suggest getting an IIDTool and getting serious about diagnosing the issues. Then I would take them down one at a time and use OEM parts and don't take shit apart.

Made the move from LRII to LRIII

Man, I have to think you are playing with fire. This just isn't the kind of vehicle you can improvise on. I do wish you luck....and also hope you continue to post your progress and/or failures.

    Move on or Fix

What do you mean specifically by getting worse between 2nd and 1st gear? What was it doing or not doing?

Made the move from LRII to LRIII

....don't be so sure it's a single "bulb" creating that icon. It might not be so simple.

    Move on or Fix

Yep...sure did, and that is indeed a nice accomplishment....hahahahaha....sorry man, I don't mean to laugh, but I must point out that living with or overlooking certain issues does not go with the territory (necessarily) of having the car's title in your filing cabinet. I'm glad you have been...

    Move on or Fix

Hahaha @Lr3tx I do find it amusing that you say the "only" major issue is X....then go on to rattle off a bunch more issues. How can you drive around without EAS; are you stuck in Normal height then?

    Move on or Fix

Just keep it!! There. That's settled. :)

    Move on or Fix

Hmmm.....this is a tough one. If by "new'ish Discovery" you mean an LR4 then I'd say no, unless you find a real gem with a known service history. If you like the design of the Discovery 5, there is that option. Otherwise, I think fixing it is reasonable. I would look more at what the LR3 is...

LR3-engine just shut down while driving

I'd be pointing at the MAF Sensor or thermostat, but I don't want to presume anything.

    I now own a LR3!!

Is that RTT mounted to a roof rack?

    LR3 Differential Options

Is your rear diff a locker? The "clunk" could be failing clutch packs. I have replaced the front diff once and the rear diff twice. Since then, I did fluid changes every ~1500 miles until it came back clean and the magnet was bare. Now I do them every couple years which for me is about 7500...

The obligatory "Show off your LR3' thread

I am running Cooper Discoverer STT Pros....they are 275/65R18 like my out-going Goodyear MT/Rs, but Cooper's sizing chart shows them at a 0.5" larger OD than what Goodyear listed the MT/Rs at, to your point above.

Interesting....and I feel like my 32.6s are too big!

The obligatory "Show off your LR3' thread

...how are you liking this setup compared to the past? Are you just walking over stuff now or...what are the differences? I know you have had different tire sizes and such in years past.
