Low range problem
How healthy is your battery? If the codes are legit, then you have an electrical issue either due to water ingress or a bad hi/lo switch. For code 3 it sounds like a rear diff issue; hopefully just the (locking) motor and not the whole differential. -

Well you are on the right track. Get the leak sorted. Not only the sunroof drains but check the A-pillar trim and the windshield cowling. Then go through the wiring. -

Fair point....I mean "real" Rovers like Discos, RRs and Defenders. The LR4 still has 10" in front and 13" in rear (of wheel travel) which is more than the G-Wagen....and most other vehicles in its class. -

While a locking diff in front is nice, I've always questioned how valuable it really is....maybe because I don't have one! For real though, usually you need help going UP hills, not down...and in those cases all the weight is in the back anyway. Between that and 4ETC, I just don't know how much... -
Lr3 or Disco I?
Your friends with Discos don't have trouble with them...? Do they drive them? Seems like Discos are far more problematic than LR3s. -

LR3 is far superior. Maintenance cost is really more dependant on mileage per year than straight time. -

Suspension fault, not hearing the compressor turn on, jumper the relay?
If the compressor isn't turning on then 99% it's the problem. That other 1% is if your suspension is so out of whack that your compressor won't actuate. -

My first vehicle was a Bronco II....an '84, which was not fuel injected. It was awful. -

Sounds like you have it on lock. Get some 31" tires for those 18s. Sliders and a skid plate for the tranny....then assess. -

My 2005 is for fun only as well...my preference is to go as big as I can without making mechanical changes. So for me the 275/65R18 is it. 2.4" OD smaller than a 35, and that is significant for sure, but the Crawl Ratio is still good and I don't worry about CV joints or axles or any of that. -
