    LR3 from stock to Overlandish?

Sweet!!...both the paint job and the daddy-daughter time. Rover projects with my daughters are my fave!

    Mityvac...

My most trusted Tech up here says that's not always the case. Fingers crossed but if we have to drill we have to drill.

I've heard it from others over the years, too.

    Sunroof leaks

The usual suspects are the pollen filter box (under the windshield cowl) and the a-pillar.

    Mityvac...

Thanks Doug....that is encouraging. I think the LR TIMESERT kit will work....I doubt the PO went any bigger than necessary. I would be concerned about shavings, yes....a pan replacement is like $3000 installed. Hell I only paid $4700 for this LR3! I solved this problem on my '05 in a different...

    67k Service Interval Cost estimate

I didn't know there was an interval at that random mileage....what does it entail? ....and how the heck do you only have 67k on your LR3?

    Mityvac...

Not sure....the PO put in an oversized plug. I am not sure if he had the hole drilled out and if so, by how much. If it's not bad, the dealer has a TIMESERT kit they can use. I'd think the hole would have to be drilled, right? Wouldn't an oversized plug just cross-thread or something? So I'm...

Doug, my drain plug is compromised. @jaamrode how much could you extract? What if the vehicle were inclined? Did you "hit bottom" with your hose? Thanks all....

    Mityvac...

I guess if it's one big piece I can see that. I have two Rasta skids that do the same job. Now...anyone successfully use a vac??

100 lbs? WTF skid plate you got up there, homie? I have the Rasta and it's nowhere near that heavy.

    Mityvac...

Hi all, I've seen old threads with mixed reviews on whether or not the oil can be sucked out of the LR3's dipstick hole by a Mityvac or equivalent extraction system....has anyone successfully done this? By successful I mean all 8 quarts or close to it....Thanks in advance. -Houm

2006 Range Rover hse smog problem

Have you (also) posted this on the RR message board? This is the LR3 section.

    Suspension Diagnosis

Why did you install lift rods anyway? If it was to clear larger tires, the GAP tool is a better approach. The Johnson Rods guy is a snake oil salesman. There is no need for those. The GAP tool is the same as the IIDTool from GAP Diagnostics. It's a terrific took for the owner of an LR3/4. Google it.

    DRL's Blackout Headlight Mod

Ditch the rods....check your calibration. See if that helps.

    Adding Rear Diff Motor

To the OP: are you asking about adding just the motor for the locker or the entire new diff? I'd be wary about buying a part so vital off Amazon without knowing the part number and compatibility.

Why is the "most capable 4x4" so fragile ?

Okay so now we are venturing into my differentiation of a "4x4" from a 4WD. A "real 4WD" simply has the hardware mentioned above. A 4x4 is designed with off-roading in mind. Angles, ground clearance, wading depth, lockers, crawl ratio, wheel travel...that is what really makes the LR3/4 separate...

Why is the "most capable 4x4" so fragile ?

    1. I was talking to the guy who had quoted my post. @tacos&beer . 2. Of course people are going to be defensive when you phrase your post as you did. We are all owners and many of us are enthusiasts, so words like "fragile" are going to raise an eyebrow. Anyhow, I don't consider the bushings...

Why is the "most capable 4x4" so fragile ?

Control arm bushings being more pliant not only make the ride nice, but the suspension better off-road as it is tuned to the stiffness of those particular bushings....which is why I'd say NO to polybushes. New control arms every 50,000 miles (YMMV) is not that big of a deal. I don't know how...

    LOCKDOWN To do List

I think the blackout you did looks pretty sweet for that color LR3. Nice job practicing! My LR3s are both black, so I'm going to stick with stock on that. I actually really like the tail lamps being so big, prominent and bright red against the black paint. I didn't get a new cushion, but you...

    LOCKDOWN To do List

On my wife's 2006: 1. Door lock actuator. 2. A-Pillar trim and windshield cowl re-furb. 3. Heated seat element R&R.

    2006 LR3 SE V6 4.0L

I've heard a variety of feedback about the polybushes....to be honest, mostly negative. I would stick with OEM and just expect to change them every 50,000 miles. If that is not a viable alternative for you, make sure you don't go with the red polybushes (too stiff) and consider replacing only...
