Costco is a good source too.

Do durable side wall tires exist for the LR4?

Spend an extra $40 and get the solid metal lugs of Amazon? I got the Eisen brand ones and they've worked well. Or pick up the gorilla ones from summit racing but they're much more expensive.

Dash lit up like a Christmas tree out in BFE

Could be a tire defect, one of our Nokian tires delaminated and scuttled my plans to get 18s.

Dash lit up like a Christmas tree out in BFE

The fact that things started going badly when you hit bumps seems to me to point to a loose connection somewhere. Perhaps internally to the battery? Did you by chance check voltage at the battery terminals when the issue arose?

Do durable side wall tires exist for the LR4?

Toyo AT3 are rated to 130MPH, for whatever that's worth.

Do durable side wall tires exist for the LR4?

Falken AT3W and AT4W do not come in a 19 as far as I can tell (neither Discount Tire nor Tire Rack carry them in 19s). GoodYear have one in the OEM 19" size. I went with the Toyo because I could go from the stock 55 to a 60 profile.

Do durable side wall tires exist for the LR4?

I have the Toyo Open Country AT3 and have been happy with them. For sure better than the Nokian 4-season street tires I had before. Is there a chance those tires are the original ones? My spare had the original tire, so when I switched to the AT3 I got a set of 5 tires. I got the 255/60R19...

Water Pump & Outlet Pipes Replacement

Is "front outlet pipe" the front crossover? I had the coolant system refreshed (front and rear cross overs, hoses between water pump and crossovers, water pump) done on my v8 for ~$1500, so if the 3800 includes those things, then I'd guess you're doing OK. If you're paying to have access...

    Open to Suggestions

Why not make something that goes down the evacuation tube under the oil cap? Make it rigid enough that it won't just bend into the oil pan when it gets down there. Judging by the effectiveness of oil evacuation, I'd wager it ends pretty darn close to the bottom of the oil pan, so some trimmer...

If you bolt plywood down the you should make sure that you leave some way to access the spare tire winch.

    Surprising oil usage

1/2 quart in 80 miles is a ton and should leave a trace, you'd be bone dry in 700 miles. I do my oil changes every 5k miles, easier to remember, plus I rotate the tires then too. Last change I noticed I only extracted a bit under 7 liters, less than usual. Next time I'll get new pcv valves...

My LR4 experiences in terms of mechanical issues that keep piling up

I think it all depends on how you look at it. You're dealing with an 11 (maybe even 12 at this point) year old vehicle, so it's going to be due for some fixing on account of rubber deteriorating. The LR4 is a heavy vehicle, with liquid filled suspension bushings to give it a cushy ride. The...

    Updated sources for skid plating?

I did something similar, immediately shut the engine off and checked underneath for leaks/damage - nothing but a dent in the skidplate from what it looked like, however later on when I removed it I did notice the frame cross member has a slight dent in it. The design of the factory setup leaves...

Changing from Low to high and vise-versa while moving?

I think the system will make sure you don't damage the transfer case while changing from lo to hi, my guess is the risk is that you might take your eyes off the trail to actuate the button, and that you might need power to avoid something but are stuck in N - to that end, being fully stopped is...

Swap out extended rails for short rails

there's a strip of moulding that covers where the front part mounts. I don't know if you can get just the part that goes from the windshield up the roof bump, or if you need to buy the whole thing and then trim it: https://parts.landroverparamus.com/oem-parts/land-rover-rear-weather-strip-lr018081

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

You get a refund for the purchase price as a store credit you can then apply to your next purchase. So first purchase is out of pocket, second is out of pocket too since you haven't shipped the oil back yet, but then you have a store credit from then on.

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

If you have access to discounted shipping, the FCPEuro deal is hard to beat. It cost me under $20 to mail back the old oil and get a credit for it, so effectively beyond the first purchase, my oil changes cost me less than $20 each.

Looking for a good trailer brake controller for my 2012 LR4

Here's how I have my redarc controller mounted: For now the control knob is taped to the steering column. It's not the best of places tbh, but it didn't require drilling holes in the dash. Current plan is to mount it to the headlight switch assembly, though I'd prefer it were more centrally...

    Showoff Your LR4

Went to Badger Lake in the Mount Hood National Forest to fish with my daughter. I need to take more time to trim the overgrowth back from the trail, I got some pretty significant pin stripes.
