Other than it not being hands free when you have your hands full, I see it as a much better option compared to auto tailgates. It's almost no effort to move it up, and its fast. I could probably open and close my upper tailgate 5 times in the time it takes the D5 auto tailgate to open on its own.
Sorry to bump this, but I recently got my own copy of microcat land rover parts program (running in vmware fusion on my mac). I did some digging on the parts just to see what exact parts my vin has in it (the * next to the part is where my vin falls on my mid year 2013)
I don't know for sure...
I just ordered that. Might come in handy, at least to help out folks on the interwebs. I'll have to get windows on a virtualbox to use it. (mac user only).
I think owning one of these long term is always going to be expensive if you don't do the work yourself. I agree on the brakes, I changed my fronts this year on my 2013 at around 55k miles. Rears have only been done once so far, at 57k now. I bet I will change those in 6 months.
I haven't...
Did it overheat at some point? Did you address that problem? If you fix the gasket and head, and it overheats again, its just going to do the same thing. Water pump issue?
I was doing a little reading on mobil1 vs mobil1 EP. What made you decide to go with EP? (Im on the regular mobil1 now, but i'd consider EP if its beneficial)
I'm pretty sure they are designed for people to park the 20" wheeled vehicles outside the shops so they don't curb wheels.
I don't buy that they are great off road, the camera quality is so low (potato quality) and the depth perception also poor. It is easier to just lean out the window when...
Is the water pump any different now? (such as updated or fixed parts?)
I have my stock water pump on my 2013, and I keep hearing about this issue, but im wondering if they fixed the issue with updated parts or if its just replacing with the exact same parts. I don't want to do the job...
Comparing peak power and racing them is just silly. I don't think I run it above 3k rpm unless im towing.
I care about low end, low rpm torque. Wether you notice it or not is one thing, but I sure as heck notice the cruising rpm. I still prefer the revs of a V8.
I'm glad that the v6 can...
Ya, you don't want to attach anything to that clamp bolt, it wont tighten properly with anything added.
As mentioned, the chassis ground point is the right spot. I recently installed my winch using that point. I just had to unbolt it and move it a little to the side to get a wrench and my...
I'll have to look for that. It does meet the exact LR spec, which is probably better.
I am looking at buying one of those vacuum venturi tools so I can do the vacuum fill method on coolant. Maybe ill flush it with that pentofrost sf.
Thanks
The 4.0 engines had it way worse, it could cause catastrophic failures. (had a spring-based tensioner, not hydraulic)
These 5.0 engines (AJ133) use a hydraulic tensioner, but uses a ratchet mechanism to maintain a level of tension, so when the ratchet tensioner is loose or has failed, you get...
If you want to build it out for camping or touring or whatever, its nice to be able to put a second battery in the driver side battery box, rather than have it taken up by the golf cart battery for eco stop start. ;)
The vehicle seems to know about trailers (at least load leveling) even if it can't detect the trailer through the wire loom. If you have enough current draw on the trailer wiring, an icon will show up on the dash and blink with the turn signals and such. I think the trailer stability assist...
I was going to mention the same thing. The LR4 is tall, not wide. You can do it if you find narrow car seats, but it will be tight. You can also remove the 2nd row middle seat and use a 3rd row seat for one car seat. My kids are older, and love using the 3rd row seats, they feel like they...
Please don't... those poor CV angles, and bushings, and you wont be able to even align the damn thing with it in extended height.
Read my last post. You can't solve tire fitment with height! Especially when you are off road, the tire still has to turn (and fit) and articulate to the bump...
ACK!!! This thread is continuing the FALSE idea that a lift will assist you in any way with tire fitment. It won't.
Almost all tire fitment issues are width limited first, and second by bump stops (your wheels actually do articulate... even with a lift).
I understand that people like to lift...
It is, and I was worried about it and that is part of what took me so long to go forward with the bumpers and full skids. First four years of ownership and ~57k miles of adventure went just fine with just sliders (mostly voyager sliders) and a roof rack. Granted I am no off road rock crawling...
