2012 LR4 Reluctant to lower from off-road suspension mode

If you're already low on freon, get a can with dye in it. Don't put the whole thing in, maybe 4oz in a few quick spurts. Use a kitchen scale to measure the full can and while you're dispensing it. Then check with a black light for leaks with the engine off and after running the AC for 15-20...

2012 LR4 Reluctant to lower from off-road suspension mode

If you have an AC manifold you can check the Hi/Lo pressure. If it's low, you can incrementally add r134a freon. Otherwise, you'll need to check other components of the hvac system.

    Adding Upgrades to My 2012 LR4 -

The Hitachi unit is serviceable and the drier can be replaced along with serviceable piston parts. AMK is non-serviceable and requires a new assembly. So, depending on the unit you have, you can preemptively service it.

I would recommend replacing the drier before the compressor goes out. I have all oem struts to replace all 4 corners. So, that's a thing. You can replace every component for under $2k.

So, what would you do to "plan" for unforseen failures? That should be on the top of anyones list. @avslash and I share similar mentalities, from all the unforseen failures we've been through we try to plan for everything.

    Adding Upgrades to My 2012 LR4 -

Had them for about 2 years, all mileage was driving to the trails and off road trails. I don't daily it. Less than 10k miles.

    Adding Upgrades to My 2012 LR4 -

It was the Lucky8 HD LCA. I'm 100% sure it was the poly that caused it. The polys don't flex too much or at all, and diverts the stress points to somewhere else. Which happens to be the LCA bushing bracket. I've put my truck through a lot of harsh trails, but I don't abuse it. It finally gave...

    Adding Upgrades to My 2012 LR4 -

My front LCA snapped at the poly bushing, pulled the axle out of the cv joint, and pinched the air strut. HD ratchet strap tied down to limp out of the trail. I always carry tools, but will be adding some more. Luckily, there was an O'Reillys a mile away for me to do this at our AirBnB...

    Adding Upgrades to My 2012 LR4 -

Here's why you want underbody armor. Sometimes on THE most basic trail, ship happens. You're limping off the trail with a busted air shock and an axle barely hanging in the cv joint to get you moving, you'll be glad to have some protection. This is in limp mode with the SYA kit. The damage...

2012 LR4 Reluctant to lower from off-road suspension mode

If you jack up an arm with the engine running, this is what happens when you utilize the self-leveling to your advantage. Also, THE easiest way to change out a tire.

Sounds like you've done quite a bit already. I'd highly recommend full underbody skid plates, sump, transmission, transfer case (I can't seem to find one), gas tank, and rear diff (can't find one that I like). It's a peace of mind to have your investment protected. After that, it depends on...

It will self-level even with the truck off. With the truck off over night or even days, sometimes it'll self-level after opening/closing a door.

    Suspension Fault Issues

I wouldn't do it. It'll just add more points of failure and complexity to the whole thing. You'll have to plan for leaks at the drier, compressor, air tank, all 3 valve blocks, and air struts. You'll probably want to add a ball valve after the valve block and a tee with schrader valve to air up...

    2012 US Spec 5.0 Won’t Start

Try pressing down on the stiff brakes till the point where you think it won't go down any further, push down some more, and then press the button.

    2010 LR4 Off-road wheel and tire options

Looks like I got the polys in around 11/2020, I suppose 2 years was a decent run with mainly off road driving. Hopefully, your polys on oem arms are better than my L8 hd kit.

Not sure about mileage, maybe 170k? Driving conditions? It's my dedicated off road vehicle, so pavement to trailhead, off road trails, and then pavement back home. I take it to my snowboarding trips too. I don't really drive it all that often.

    LR4 Fuel Pressure Sensor?

The fuel pressure sensor is on the fuel rail on bank 1. Looking from inside the cab, RH side towards the firewall. It's easier to access it, if you remove the fuel rail.

@M32H32IS Just saying, I FEEL your pain. Honestly, I don't know if I can deal with issues. To think ALL the maintenance and care I put into it that it would last another 100k miles with ease, but that's not the case. Depending on how I feel after I get the oem struts on, changing out the 3rd...

    2010 LR4 Off-road wheel and tire options

I didn't ask. I'm just going to take it as a loss. I'm pretty sure they won't warranty something that's been off roading, especially when it happened on a (super easy) trail. You can also see that it pulled my axle out of the cv joint and it was hanging below the skid plate. This also...

    2010 LR4 Off-road wheel and tire options

It's actually pretty common, but I thought I'm special and it wouldn't happen to me. It broke where the bushing inserts into the front LCA. The bushing was 100% in tact, the LCA bushing hoop broke in half where it meets the the rest of the welded structure.

    2012 versus 2015 LR4

If you plan to off road it, you'll want a hi/lo gear transfer case. '10-'13 V8s come with it standard. '14+ was an optional HD package with hi/lo TC and lockers. If you're mall crawling with light off road trails, then the newer ones are nice with updated infotainment and tech. Otherwise, lo...

There's a ton of other things that I've been through. All separate incididents from the top of my head, swapped out 2 transmissions, 3 water pumps, 2 thermostats, 2 front crossover pipes, 1 rear crossover, 2 oil cooler o-rings, both hpfp, gas tank o-ring, timing chain, ignition coils, o2...

    2012 US Spec 5.0 Won’t Start

I feel your pain... I'm actually debating if I want to keep it going. I had a catastrophic failure, not engine or powertrain related, and to properly fix it, I would want all new oem struts and front lcas.
